Exactly. 100% of fat ingested goes to fat storage before it can be used. What isn't used remains as fat in the body. Either use it or store it.

Excellent talk on LLLT, one of the best on KZbin that I have heard. I just received Scott's Diesel Torch and hoping to resolve some oral health issues. Do you have any talks on using red light therapy on oral health, there isn't much out there on this topic and how to use LLLT on it especially for dosing suggestions?

If my memory serves me right from when I did keto/ketovore/carnivore, popping out of ketosis and getting keto flu, by eating a little over in carbs, doesn’t seem very ancestral/ logical. I understand ancestral doesn’t mean psychologically optimum, but I do think it’s a good guide post in general. What other omnivore species on the plant, goes into ketosis, but if they wander off to the other side of the range and eats something that is delicious to them, gets sick, and just keeps doing this, back and forth. Eats one type of food, changes their psychological state, then goes eats another, and toggles repeatedly on this keto flu illness fence. I don’t think a species like this exists. It has to be these omnivores are regular eating a combo to avoid that negative state of being. Going into ketosis, has to be an organisms last ditch effort to survive before going under. Ancient man didn’t eat no carbs then walked past all types of edible fruit carbs, eat them, and get sick/ keto flu, then go back to no plant carbs and into ketosis, then hey let’s get sick again and eat some fruit or tubers. They ate an omnivorous diet of plants and animals regularly, that included the glucose and other nutrient like minerals, in the blood of the animals, because they consumed the blood and the animal soon after culling it. So my opinion on ketones, is like whatever. If I have no issues in my brain eating a balanced diet and I never get anything like keto flu, I’m not going to mess around manipulating my body eliminating stuff on some idea something is supposedly good. No, makes no sense IMO from the points I just said. Maybe animals that hibernate go into ketosis too. This is a great interview/ video. Jay did an awesome job explaining all his complex knowledge on the topic simply, making it easy to understand. I’m going to comment more on this vid, the ketone was the first of my points. Going to listen to this a few times because it’s good stuff. More people need to hear this and get it down like second nature, it’s spot on. Reviewing more of the points being made, with regards to carb/fat/macro quantities, I think what Jays saying, listening to appetite, cravings is super important and how I’m doing it. Kicking bad habits of eating just because it’s a certain time, because of nervousness, changing a state of being/feeling, throws off proper eating to energy necessity balance, so conquering that nuance is important. I’m starting to throttle back my carbs to match physical activity demands, so my body sucks up fat first, but it has the glucose there if it needs it. That way I don’t add an extra 5 to 10lbs in fat over lean muscle mass, because I’m randomly throwing down extra good carbs not needed. Managing the last few pounds to get super lean, but stay and feel healthy, is an art and skill to be mastered at a mid to older adult age. Young people/ adults have natural high metabolism going for them to make it easier. So if my belly has 5-10lbs extra fat because I over ate a bunch of yummy carbs, I don’t stop eating carbs, I just lower the carbs down, fat is usually lower/ harder to over eat by itself, but lower fat a bit, keep protein steady, and allow my body to use the excess fat fuel, but maintaining a minimum source of carb macro, and sensing my level headedness, is a good gauge for me, making sure I’m not turning off the carb/ glucose source too much. Then, if I do extra ordinary physical activity, either just prior, during and after, I may increase the carbs a bit to compensate for that addition to the equation, but all along keeping the carbs relatively lower, because I want my body to tap the extra fat in storage. Tada 🎉 Also regarding this topic, I don’t believe and it’s not my experience, just eating more and adding more food carbs, leads to increased successful metabolism of that added fuel source. If the body doesn’t need it, it’s going to store it as fat. The body isn’t a turbojet engine where the more fuel pumped into it, the faster the turbine blades spine from more intake air and the combustion process. It needs a certain amount of quality fuel, anything above and beyond gets stored for future use as fat. If you add more fuel to a turbojet engine, it literate will spin faster/ create more power in direct proportion, because the blades will suck in more air faster for combustion, and when the blow off exhaust exits it spins the blades to suck more air to the intake to go faster, the fuel is the control, unlimited fuel will blow up the engine, because it will keep accelerating until the housing/engine components can’t take it. The body doesn’t work exactly like this. It might have some similarities, but I hear some people kind of make it seem like this. Over time the macro needs could increase a bit, but the more difficult part is not flooding the engine, putting the wrong fuel in and using up storage. So satisfying macros by listening to the cravings, adjusting for external environment, which includes noticing weight gain, then adjust accordingly by toning down carbs and or stepping up activity, but doing this carefully so not to tone them down too much to cause hormonal issues, ketosis/ survival/ low metabolism mode. I don’t eat olive 🫒 oil because extra virgin olive oil breaks the rule, don’t eat unripe fruit. Ripe olives are a dark burgundy, not green/extra virgin, so there are probably negative plant compounds there, in a concentration, not good for the gut/ metabolism. Then there is the oxidation issue. Coconut oil way better IMO and animal fat. Natural occurring PUFA in small amounts consumed here and there, probably isn’t any issue, just when it’s consumed unusually either in a supplement or specific diet targeting them in excessive amounts. It’s hard to find a species falling out of the animal kingdom because of them. Brown bears that live along the ocean that eat a lot of salmon, live about as long as grizzly bears that live more inland and eat more things like deer/elk. I think the main issue is dosage and contamination from processing. Also, polar bears do live shorter, but they have harsher environments, young die easier, but they probably eat the most PUFA of the bears. But they are probably the strongest. So it’s hard to see the direct effect of PUFAs in animal examples similar to us IMO. But I do think the chemistry of the different fats makes sense, and the fact we would never had ancestrally have eaten a lot of PUFAs, unless being stuck in a less than ideal location, it’s probably best not to introduce this into the body as a miracle cure/ longevity idea IMO. If I go to my favorite Chinese buffet, they usually have a big boiled fillet of salmon. That meat/ protein is healthy, has very small amounts of fat. There is nothing wrong with eating this and is probably very beneficial in a number of ways. To only eat this meat and eliminate red meat I think is totally wrong, but I’m not going to freak out and not eat the salmon, if I walk by and my cravings say that’s yummy and I eat it and feel great afterwards, all because of an idea/ theory, and now a particular food is getting stigmatized, just like they do to sugar, Sat fat, cholesterol, etc etc. That’s a good point about electrolytes. When I did strict carnivore, I had a much greater salt craving, had to constantly salt all meat. I definitely don’t have that eating a balanced diet now, use way less salt, but I think salt is good and not to be avoided, just with a balanced omnivorous diet, it’s probably being utilized better.

Things which make carbs into bodyfat: 1) polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats, 2) flax seed, 3) undereating, diets 4) high fat diet in long term, 5) soy, 6) very high protein diet, 7) low carb diet, 8) stress, 9) most herbs in higher quantities permanently used. 10) low potassium (lack of fruits, vegetables), 11) plastics (packaging and so on), 12) estrogen. I want to add that when carbs get converted to fat, people get also a light form of dementia. Proteins get converted into carbs and then into fat under above mentioned circumstances. Alcohol and other addictions rise from inability to use carbs or lack of carbs (alcohol has a lot of calories, every time you smoke, glucose gets released into blood etc). If the carbs do not get converted into fats or into energy, then you get diabetes and high blood sugar. If you dont eat at least 1 pound/0,5 kg carbs a day, your body might be eating in one month 2,2 pounds/ about 1 kg of your own flesh (proteins) and would turn those proteins into carb (Minesota starvation experiment). The body takes proteins from your heart, liver, skin, joints, muscles etc. and turns them into carb. Naturally those organs will get sick. Sources for every point above: point 1) youtube channel Fire in a bottle @fireinabottle3410, dr. Ray Peat, point 2) channel Strongsistas with Wendy Sellens, point 3) Minnesota starvation experiment, point 4) Georgi Dinkov, point 5) as point 2 and dr. Ray Peat, point 6) @healthcausesregeneration, channel Strongsistas, Georgi dinkov, Minessota starvation experiment, 7) as point 3, 4, point 8) Georgi Dinkov, Ray Peat, 9) channel Strongsistas with Wendy Sellens, 10) Ray Peat, asian diet, 11) and 12) as points 2, 4, Ray peat.

I wish I did well on the "Bioenergetic" way of eating espoused by Ray Peat, Jay Feldman, Danny Rodney, Kate Deering, and Georgi Dinkoff, to name a few influencers, but it's always been a disaster in terms of balancing my blood sugar on this kind of a diet. My blood sugar goes up and is all over the place, and then that's followed by high blood pressure. Then also fungal and yeast issues increase. Not to mention gaining 30 unwanted pounds! So, unfortunately, I've had to go back to an animal centric diet that's primarily a ketogenic one. It's the only protocol that works consistently well for me and for many others I know. It's also the only one that helps my weight to come down. My conclusion has to be that the body's need for glucose does not have to come from sugar or carbs. In fact, it's much better to use gluconeogenesis. Also, there's no scientific data presented to back up anything put forth in this video.

That's interesting, I had the reverse effect on Keto/Carnivore by listening to Chaffee, Berry, Bart Kay, Kelly Hogan etc and all of that fat made me gain fat around my waist and jawline. Not to mention that it suppressed my thyroid causing hypothyroidism (cold hands and feet) and the lowering of my metabolism (because ketosis is a starvation mode to the body...that's why Chaffee says "ketosis is like fasting"). All in all, when I switched to a Biogenic type of diet, my thyroid and metabolism have slowly healed and for the first time in over 5 years, no more cold hands and feet. My sleep improved also as well as strength and energy in the gym and my cortisol greatly improved. Most people switching from a restrictive diet like Keto need to keep in mind that it will take acfew weeks to adjust to the new food groups being introduced. The microbiom doesn't adjust overnight. Just like when you start Keto, the body has to adjust for a few weeks or months. Ketosis isn't a long-term diet, it's a backup source of energy.

@@SG-ji5ijtakes much longer than a few weeks for many. I’m a year and while I’m making improvements my thyroid is unchanged and I’m still gaining weight. I’m post menopausal and all these mostly younger males and females should consider the older women and make some improvements on their recommendations. None of us are losing the weight that was promised and my thyroid has not improved even with fairly strict compliance. My digestion went to hell 5 months in. I sleep much better but the stress of weight gain is growing. Not sure what to do. Hate to admit, but I’m kind of tired of fruit. While I believe in this science there are caveats that need to be addressed. But I can’t really go back.

@@MartaSpendowska Why "scripted"? I'm simply relating my own experience. No need to label it! I'm familiar with the Minnesota experiment. And, by the way, a keto diet is not a "semi-starvation" diet. One eats a nutrient rich diet till they are full....meat, eggs, dairy, fish, etc... I'm actually a member of the Stong Sistas Co-Op, so I'm very familiar with their nutritional approach. I'm simply disputing the need for so much sugar, as recommended by some Ray Peat followers.

@@SG-ji5ij I've gone as long as one month on the Bioenergetic diet, and the results were still not favorable. But because I simply cannot tolerate eating just meat and water, I've added some raw milk and goat cheese, and an occasional piece of fruit or sourdough bread. So, it's really not a strict carnivore diet, but more of a Paul Saladino one.
