This is pretty helpful! if it doesn't fit in the box, don't bring it. This is a good way to minimize clean up. Thank you

Hey!thanks for the video! I have a quick question! Is 2inchs thickness enough to sleep comfortably? I was debating between 5 inches and 2 inches. What you think ?
@LensLifeOfficial
@LensLifeOfficial 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. Maybe others in the comments could bring more info here, but... I’d recommend at least a 3 inch pad. If all you have is a 2 inch pad, you could fold it over itself for more comfort. Another trick is wrapping the pad in a thick blanket!

I was thinking of getting a 5 inch twin foam mattress. Was worried about if it would be too thick. Most of the videos have a frame built in to the Jeep and rear seats off making it flat. I want to have the seats in. That’s why I’m kinda debating if I should get a thick mattress or just 2 inches would be comfy. Also where did you guys store all that gear during the trip?
@LensLifeOfficial
@LensLifeOfficial 3 жыл бұрын
5 inch would be very comfortable if you’re not laying down any supporting sheets of plywood. I now store my gear in a big tub while camping, which I usually push underneath the Jeep at night.

Instead of packing toilet paper, I pack wet wipes. More uses and takes less space, especially in a back pack. Great video.

Best totes for most anything. I usually bring a large one and 2 small ones to hold everything. Lids are perfect for stoking a fire and using as trays for food prep.

Put some red taillight repair tape around those lanterns. Won’t blind you and won’t keep you up all night bc of the blue. Or just wrap a headlamp around a 1gal water bottle (milk jug style; full of water, of course).

How the heck can you fit all your camping gear in one box. I can't even fit all my backpacks in one box. I've got a box with nothing but tents, and it's full. I can fit all my camping gear in one room, except the boats and bikes of course. I think you must live a much more disciplined gear life than I do.

Not essential, but a metal rake to remove rocks under your tent is nice to have. I also bring firewood and an axe for making kindling. And tarps for under and over the tent. I bring a large tarp that more than covers the tent and extends out over the entrance, making an awning over our rug and shoes in the doorway. I put up the tarp with nylon twine, tying it to nearby trees and/over makeshift poles. The twine also acts as a clothes line.

The only thing I think you missed is a small folding shovel. Always good to have a way to clean out a fire pit, make sure your fire is well out, dig an emergency latrine, or dig your vehicle out if you get stuck. Nice, compact setup. Cheers!

This was in my recommended videos this morning. Very good list. I'm not seeing a link to the lights you mentioned. Do you have one because those would be perfect for the house when we lose power due to hurricanes/tropical storms (I live in Louisiana). Thanks and a new subscriber.

Hint for using cookware over a fire, rub the outside with dish soap before putting on the fire grate. When you wash up your dishes, do this cookware last but it will be clean when you finish.

Those little camp lights if you scuff up the clear plastic you can get the light output to be much better like a frosted lens vs the clear lens those leds are very direct and the light output is horrible because they just blind you
