For people commenting how slow it is, I live in Manchester and regularly use the tram and it doesn't normally go this slowly. I don't know if there was a particular reason why this tram was crawling along so slowly. It DOES say in the description that it was the first ever tram on the line so maybe it was just the driver being cautious.

Just curious , I'm going here soon , and the reason is because a scene from max and paddy's : Road to nowhere , was filmed here but that was in 2004/5 , and the track in the scene is singular, so I'm just curious as to why that is ?

There’s only on thing more annoying than a kid that hasn’t been brought up with the notion that kids are ‘seen and not heard’. and that is when you have. Skid that thinks he knows everything about trains….. SHUT UP AND LEARN FROM THE EXPERT.

Heading towards Buxton once you leave Middlewood Station there are plenty of foot crossings right up until Chapel-en-le-Frith Station, my favourite being the one due south of Furness Vale Station. Yet I've never actually used that one you point out. Will make a point of doing so next time I use Middlewood.

Yes I know, but they're not in Greater Manchester. Its just in the city itself there are very few.
@desperatemohammedantheworl58333 жыл бұрын
Beeching really screwed Marple over. The Chinley stopping service cut back to New Mills Central for no good reason, the line to Macclesfield gone and as anyone who's ever had to get there from Marple during the morning rush hour will tell you insanely the line to Stockport (and beyond to Manchester/Liverpool via Trafford) was shut and lifted with much of it's trackbed irretrievably filled in and built over.

Ignoring the obvious Denton and Reddish South I presume several of the other top 10 least used GM stations are those between Manchester and Bolton that virtually no trains stop at.

Nice to see the new branch. When I last visited Manchester, it hasn’t been yet completed. I like the Metrolink network however I think the full potential isn’t used as they run pretty slowly. I live in Cologne and we have the same trams but they ride faster even at the streets.
@cameronallan56242 жыл бұрын
probably mainly due to the fact that the roads are straighter in Cologne?

You know its an old school driver doing the demonstration as like me he still refers to it as "Straight Air Brake" I do traction courses on 68's and I still do exactly the same.... its a Direct Brake or a Straight Air Brake.

So many very tight bends causing such very slow speeds does concern me. Pity it's not faster with smooth shallow bends . A rapid transport system in this area, it sadly fails to be.

West Didsbury Tramstop is actually better located for most of Withington than Withington Tramstop itself. Really not sure why they named Withington the way they did.
