Probably the most charming and glamorous soprano I ever heard: Susanna, Fiordiligi, Sifare, Poppea, The Governess, but also Donna Elvira, Sophie, La Contessa. And a splendid Mozart Great Mass K.427... Glyndebourne, London, Paris, Wien, but also La Scala... unforgettable

If this soprano's name wasn't mentioned, I could say that Simone Kermes was singing Lucia... The timbre is quite interesting!

I would have preferred for the legendary Maria Caniglia to have sung AND acted in the Tosca film. However, that is not a slam on Duval. I am wild for Caniglia and would have liked to have seen her as well. Of course she was too old to be believable at the time.

That was a surprise. A very lovely quality to her voice: pure, clear, even, good body up to the Eflats in alt. Very musical phrasing. Shame the scene was truncated for a concert, I would have liked to have heard how she shaped the recitative and decorated the cabaletta. But a very lovely singer. More please.

I never liked when singers avoid the high notes written in the score. Don’t sing the QOTN or these high Mozart concert arias if you don’t have High-Fs. Besides the coloratura is very slow. A good singer but not my taste. I have always found her overrated but just my opinion and of course I respect her!
