Should that department exist is the better question, or better put, is it authorized under the constitution? I don't hear this question being asked. Instead people just do opinion polls. Most of the alphabet agencies are NOT authorized under the constitution. Are we doing better with the plethora of bloated, corrupt federal agencies or worse? And how many of these powers belong in the states instead.

With how important it is to fund and promote the education of a nation I'm not sure if its a good idea to abolish the department of education. Our education is probably one of the biggest things we can support to defend our position in the world stage for the future. We need an educated population, we need bright ideas, STEM, and all of that. Now is the current or past Dept of Edu. great? I don't think so, there's a lot that could be improved but when you're talking about billions of people, 50 states and territories, across all different ethnicities and economic backgrounds, a department of competent, educated and experienced people helping to oversee and improve such a vital aspect of our nation is a something worth investing in.
