I'll never forget seeing this scene for the first time ever. The absolute disturbing silence with dead bodies everywhere and absolutely NO music whatsoever. Barely and sound until you hear Guts speak inwardly. And every time he did speak it made me jump from how the sound of his voice just tore through the darkness. And then you suddenly see Zodd just....standing there...Absolutely motionless with those damn blood red eyes and having two men having just died on his blade...There was no coming back from this...

Here’s my take guts could have won this fight even before Griffith showed up if he didn’t aim for the horns. If it was a body blow, arm, or leg he might’ve won.
