Guitar is really poor quality and feels cheap against my mexican made Fender (i own a Retroscape H-II) . Removed the protection foil of the pickguard and the single coil broke of. Also it's very fast out of tune (use one or two times the tremolo and it's out of tune). Cannot reccomend it at all even for a price below 350€

Thank you very much for this video. I bought this guitar. I would like to add some details about its brutal sound capacities. I've been playing it during the guitar lessons for 8 months now (I'm a guitar teacher in Palaiseau, France) and I can assure every player that it works very well with a powerful overdrive, even with a distortion. I use it with an Orange Crush Pro amplifier. With the dirty canal set on 7, the guitar delivers sounds very suitable for AC/DC, or Guns and roses, on 8 or 9, its perfect to play Iron Maiden or Tool. It also matches "Orion", or "Master of Puppets", "Dead skin mask" or "Seasons in the abyss" (Slayer). Its' fuzzy and thick with a lot of bass, a little bit like Josh Homme's sound, with artificial harmonics (which I cherish). To cut a long story short, the Hagstrom Restroscape 3 is a perfectly versatile guitar. It looks like an SG and it does sound like it ;0). I'm so glad I bought it. I already possessed the Viking by Hagstrom (since 2013), but I wanted the tremolo, which I use very much. It keeps the guitar tuned and is perfectly adapted to play The shadows, or Midnight Oil (among others "Weddkingcake Island"). You'll have to be patient to master every setting, but in the end, you'll be able to play anything, from very subtle Mark-Knopfler-clean-sounds to heavy brutal riffs. A perfect musical weapon for curious players.

Impressive sound! I am already a big Hagström fan due to my DLX12 with that same exquisite H expander trussrod and the far more affordable Rickenbacker 12 string like tone, but this guitar almost makes me forget my wish for the Swede or Super Swede. The two reasons that I still want one of those models is my preference for the Les Paul single cut esthetics and the split coil system, but if that were not the case...... well, quite a versatile guitar!

Really great demo sir ,very inspiring in fact .I think you just convinced me to buy a used one I've been walking the floor over. I had come upon one of the late 70's versions selling at $1800 CDN ,one of those old bolt on necks ,I just loved the neck in particular which is primarily the reason for my interest in this brand but I can see the new versions are quite nice as well .Thank you for your time .

This was useful to me because its a 5-string Sire so I got to hear what one of these sounds like in those, I wouldn't go for the double one because of the need to deal with the in-body jack, but I'll definitely get the single NFP for my V5 fretless. I did like that barking tone you got at around 27:00, that sounded really fat.

I have many recordings of this guitar from the mid 70's while 'on the road'. All styles including jazz, country, rock, funk ... etc. This was my favorite guitar of all time. It covered everything. The only problem, it was heavy. I dumped my 2 LP, including a late 50's, prefer the Swede.

Tengo una igual. Mis compañeros de banda me hacen bromas porque ellos dicen que no es una guitarra profesional y los suecos no saben nada. Para mi es una gran guitarra. Gracias por tu explicación. Desde Argentina te saludo.

If this were my bass we would have an issue. You should have covered the body from the beginning. You chipped the paint and it was like no big deal because it will be covered up. It’s not yours so you don’t give a damn. It makes me scared when my bass leaves my possession intro the hands like people like you. All luthiers are not equal. I hope you made full disclosure to the customer that you messed up a pristine bass.

Really sounds good.I'm looking at using a Lusithand preamp for one of my non jazz bases to get the Wal tone.I have an Audere preamp in my Jazz and while it's a good one the T-800 has it beat from what I'm hearing on your demo I'd say.

Sounds good but how much is it the onboard preamp vs your output (amp set up)? I’m also thinking, you could make any bass/preamp sound great.

This was pretty much all the pre amp, amp was flat and taking the DI out from the back, a little bit of room noise and a cab mic all mixed in together, no trickery or playing around with EQ etc etc.

I had a Hagstrom ES=335 shape guitar and I do believe it had a Bigsby trem on it. The guitar had a beautiful tone to it. The only thing I didn't like about the guitar was, when I would play out live on it, it vibrate]d so much, from playing it, it felt like it was going to fly apart in my hands and caused my attack to suffer, So before I would start "bad habits in playing I sold it That kind of scared me, seeing how I was making a living from my shows. I sold it...it all worked out in the end.. I dont really remember the 80's all that much...Hahahaha Not kidding though.....I have had a few of these guitars......GREAT TONE!! Wish I still had it now..... I just sibscribed. I have watched a few and you are spot on! Good job mate!

I enjoy the way you make all the points about the unique construction and conception of this sweet guitar. I have owned my original black Super Swede from Sweden made in the last year of the 1st production run that ended in 1983 since I got it used in 1988. It is my go to guitar for all my home studio recordings, far more versatile and with wonderful action on the amazing thin neck. I have never had to adjust the neck due to that patented H shape truss rod design. It has amazing tones and has the same set of double pick up switch choices to create all the different useful tones. To assist the sustain it also features a zero fret so the strings never touches the nut. I've recently found a used Ultra Swede which is much lighter and just as well crafted as the original Swede, with the added bonus of being quite a lot lighter, with the Resinator composite wood neck face and gorgeous marbled abalone inlays and binding that is even made from vegan-sourced material. Innovative beyond most other guitar makers on this planet. Another Robby who loves Hagstrom guitars!

I cant think of anything more annoying playing live . Dammm crappy lighting and pissing about on stage . No thanks keep it simple . As a pro sound engineer i would wrap that bass across the bass players head if he was doing that crap . Ok for recording but make sure you get your take 100 percent. Cos you aint gonna get that sound again the next day .you want that stuff get a programmable filter .

Pity , as from accent it looks is based from U.k . Meaning the second filter preamp avalailbe on the market is still in u.k , brexit sucks . Is also bit weird coming so late in the filter party in the very same country ,but more the better. For reference decades after East ( the best preams of the world i.mo) did it for acg basses , following on the alembic fame for that in the past ( with lo pass AND hipass btw , i have it , exceptional , not practical for live use for speedo changes though ,so deinstalled ages ago ) . Again, The more the better so lucky you , just honestly it should have been mentioned , cause EAST (uk..) IS the MOST versatile if you just judge by that variable , and by far . Us players know it well lolz Anyway that confirms bass is DECADES ahead guitars in terms of alternative solutions ( guitarist dont want even try that lolz)

It's similar to a filter in a Moog or other substractive synth. Really great option, but if can be difficult to dial in a band context. But... Listen to Blood Sugar Sex Magik. Just THE killer bass sound

Late to the party but will say this is an awesome demo and review of this classic reissue H-III. Not sure about this model but the 60s H-III had a neck as thin an office paper pad. Perfect for young flexible hands, but I imagine my decrepit old hands would prefer something a little thicker. I note that the Fender-ish headstock is missing here, for obvious reasons, the new one is ok, but I miss the old one for nostalgia.
