Is that Ric Grech (Blind Faith) on fiddle? I know Gram stayed with Ric when Gram was in the UK. Ric made tapes. Some are here on KZbin but are "unavailable" here in the States. Sure would love to hear them.

Liked the sampling of "Young Love" from 2:27-2:40. What's not to love about this?!

Posting at 5:33 pm ET on 1-21-25. Heard this for the 1st time about 15 minutes ago, and it blows ALL the other versions out of the water and evaporates the water! Hearing Tom T. Hall's original, I could pick out some jazzy elements. You better know I'll be back at least HUNDREDS more times. Thanks to infinity and back for this!!!

Melba was one of the most distinctive Country singers of her generation and duet singer with George Jones. She also sang duets with Gene Pitney and Charlie Louvin. Melba died last Wednesday (1/15/25) at age 86 in Nashville.

Amazing how a different arrangement can make the difference between a top ten hit and an album filler. Most people don’t realize how important the musical arrangement and production is. The Outsiders original version is by no means terrible, but it lacks the dynamic energy of the American Breed’s hit.

Love the Canned Heat's version, Bryan Ferry's, and Harrison's (I discovered them in that order), but Harrison gets special credit for writing the song.

I’m 63 I’ve known this version since I was about 20. Always liked it He also wrote Kokomo Blues. It’s where Robert Johnson got Sweet Home Chicago from. It’s exactly the same. Even the Steady Rollin Man copied. But hell they were all so good. Cheers from Montreal

Simply a great tune and performance...i am guessing the slide riff gave inspiration to Robert J when he did Dust my broom ...even Robert was not using slide and was in std tuning when making that recording...then Elmore James making about 100 and 5 versions using the same riff ... and lots of others followed...
