The reason they're expensive is because cattle wind up using them as toys and butting them all over the place!! Set a post deep in the ground (4 feet) with 5 or 6 feet above ground, wrap it in indoor/outdoor carpet, a few spirals of barbed wire (tight against the carpet) and watch what a happy bunch of animals you create. They will rub it until they break it. Lol

Old timers did that to help hold the post in the ground, when they drove the metal post in the ground they actually hit a rock, so the post wouldn’t go any deeper. I see it a lot here in West Virginia
