Blake, I just watched your ocular melanoma journey. I am one day away from having my plaque removed... it's been a long week! I would love to know how you are doing. I so resonated with your thoughts on nutrition and healing. I wonder if you could point me to some support groups for this issue who maybe deal more naturally with health and healing.

Granted Hermosa Beach is an attractive, clean community with a lot of fun and cool things to see and do but the sad fact of the matter is that it is unaffordable for most working class people and everything is geared towards the affluent and successful folks. Is Hermosa Beach a friendly, welcoming place or is it an arrogant affluent urban enclave by the Pacific. Is homelessness a growing problem in Hermosa Beach like in all of the rest of Los Angeles County? It is one thing to be positive

Hi Blake, Christy Peck here. I had surgery February 1-8 and left for Amsterdam in mid March. I was good by then. I see Dr. Berry for follow up appointment in a few days. Hopefully they got it. Thank you for walking me through the procedure. Hope all is well now.

I'm very curious about the size postcard you're using, the printing process, and how to do the monthly EDDM. If I print the cards myself, do I use a service? Will they handle the postage stamp?

Our family could write a book, full of laughter/tears/awakenings, of our times in Redondo Beach 1950-1962. I didn't want to move away but later thankful to experience another amazing place in California.

Grew up on Emerald St., near what was Hillcrest Elementary School and is now Nick Parras Middle School, which my nephews attended. This is just up from the pier and on a quiet night I could hear the harbor buoy from our house. All my grandparents lived in Redondo Beach. When my dad was growing up in South Athens, part of what is now South LA, my relatives would all go to Veteran's Park, right by the pier where the old Library building is for picnics. My grandparents moved to Redondo in the 1960's due to crime in South Athens. My mom grew up on the north border of Torrance next to Gardena, only a few miles from the pier and went there from childhood. My family has been in this area for over a century. The only drawbacks are the Hellmouth located in the area and the history of serial killers. Those of you who are familiar with the 1990's TV series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" should be aware that the "fictional" Buffy's home town is actually located on the border of Torrance and Redondo Beach. The story is based on local oddities and the persistant legend that one of the hidden mouths of the Gates of Hell is located beneath the area, perhaps near one of the high schools. Redondo High School, in addition to having the actress Demi Moore as a graduate, also boasts notorious underage porn star and Hollywood actress Tracy Lords, and Manson Family killer and attempted Presidential assassin Lynette "Squeaky" Fromm, along with less famous killers. The infamous McMartin "witch trials", often compared to the Salem Witch Trials, occurred in the area in the 1980's. A number of notorious California serial killers have used the area as a hunting ground, including the "Freeway Killers". We're proud to have been featured multiple times on NBC's "Dateline" for famous murders. This goes back a way as the South Redondo area known as Riviera Village is better known to locals as the "Hollywood Riviera", dating back to the 1930's. It was the area Hollywood film people from the classic area went to have discreet affairs and engage in activities they didn't want the LA press aware of. Until the 1960's the area was somewhat isolated from the rest of LA. It also slightly resembles the French and Italian Mediterranean coasts. Bogart and Bacall, while they were having an affair before Bogart's divorce and their marriage, used to have a hideaway in one of the first houses located just north of the Esplanade. There are also tales of darker happenings in that era and beyond that were covered up by our accommodating local police and politicians. In the 1980's one of the members of the rock band Motley Crew ran over a pedestrian with his Ferrari while drunk. No charges were filed and the case was discreetly settled for large amounts of cash. Recently Tiger Woods smashed his car late at night in the area. There was no acknowledgement of casualties. If you can afford it our area is good for escaping consequences. There is lots of location filming in the area, so Hollywood types are always lurking. Some of this started with the wave of horror films of the 1960's and the Hollywood scandals, like the Manson Family Murders, associated with them. Directors and producers valued the authenticity of using our area as a backdrop for Satanic horror. Despite this we're proud of the recent increases in survival rates among our high school classes. Gang activity has tapered off except in North Redondo and the recent increase in newly wealthy immigrants from Northern Mexico, and their heavily armed contingents of bodyguards, has led to a decrease in street crime, though targeted assasinations have increased somewhat. We are also somewhat legendary for our WWII history. The local Japanese American population was exiled from Redondo and the Palos Verdes Hills next to us. There are rumors of supposed sightings of revengeful exiles who never left. The deaths in the area supposedly attributed to this are more easily explained by the large numbers of martial arts and kendo studios in the are, thus explaining the numerous decapitations and disembowelments by Japanese swords. Redondo and the Palos Verdes were also the location of the mysterious "ghost planes" attack in January 1942. The area was riddled with coastal WWII fortifications that burrowed everywhere. When I was a kid there were still some open creepy tunnels that seemed to wander everywhere. Supposedly the government made a major effort to find all the entrances and exits, and securely seal them all up. There was a debate on whether this was to prevent people getting in, or something getting out. So welcome to all you newly wealthy people who want to move to our area and drive up prices. Rest assured that you and your families have a reasonably good chance of surviving your residence here without something gruesome happening to you. Warning though, it does get very dark at night in many places and most of us locals try to be under cover well before 10:00pm and not go out before the sun fully rises.

Why didn't you mention that there are "explosive gas meters " on all of the buildings in Playa Vista? This is because there are huge clouds of explosive gas underground in the Playa Vista area. You say that this area is safe but all these meters beg to differ. In the case of a large earthquake, all these people will have a hard time getting out of here!

We'd live to have you come back. ,Be aware that Del Amo Mall has been extensively rebuilt over the years so you might find it hard to recognize. If you want to be nostalgic look at the Quentin Tarentino film from the 1990's "Jackie Brown". Long key sequences of the film were shot at the mall. I'm sure you'd find many things that would bring back memories.

It's about the burn marks. It's not normal for snow to have burn marks when you put fire to it. That's why people say it is laced with chemicals and that's a reasonable fact, not a weird theory.

No it’s not a reasonable fact it’s a reasonable hypothesis at best. When in actuality this is science and how the carbon is reacting to the fire. It’s like an igloo affect

Let me explain, the snowball is melting, the water is just being reabsorbed back into the dehydrated snow as it’s frozen and without humidity, You can even throw the snow into a microwave or in a cooking pan, and it’ll melt back into water.

You're making it go straight into a vapor via sublimation. Also, the black color comes from the soot made by the lighter, it's the butane getting trapped in the ice crystals.
