Always been curious...does Betrayal refer to the guy who helped Jackie disappear, then shows up at the end and kills him after he does the job?

I sometimes get the feeling that this movie (based on the 1950 novel and the 1953 film, 'The Wages of Fear') would have been more successful if it had a different title. When you're William Friedkin and you're coming off a movie like 'The Exorcist' and your next film is called 'Sorcerer,' it's understandable that audiences might get the wrong idea. Also, coming out a month after 'Star Wars' probably didn't help.

Great movie. Saw it at the theater when it first came out. Bought the sound track on vinyl. When the movie became available on DVD I bought a copy. It’s my favorite movie. I watch it once or twice a year and enjoy it every time. It will always be a favorite I guess because it reminds me of being in my 20s during the ‘70s and the crazy, reckless stuff I used to do. Everyday now I wake up incredulous that I have somehow survived into my mid seventies. I would add that it was a lot more fun and exciting being in my 20s during the ‘70s than in my 70s during the ‘20s.😄

Fell in love with this film when I first saw it in its theater release. Read the original "Wages of Fear" and the movie novelization, and played the crap out of the soundtrack LP (with cassette version to enjoy on the road). Then the movie fell off the edge of the Earth! And I spent the entire '80s spreading the news about "Sorcerer", even though it couldn't be seen. I was ecstatic when the VHS edition was finally released in 1989.

I have never seen the film...but I had the album in the 70s and now i have the cd....and the music is definitely music from an underworld . Its a very dark soundtrack and a few of the pieces carry the essence of Mort Garson's Black Mass album released in 1971.
