What about BSR rates? What MAX should it be?
@OddsOctopus
@OddsOctopus Жыл бұрын
There’s a slight problem when giving figures on the bsr max. Every category has different amount of items in it. So a product that’s around 100k bsr in toys and games is great but 100k in another category could well have 0 sales per month. I would check out application called buypotpro and this software will tell you roughly how many sales the product has every month to better understand if it sells

Hey Odds, I trust you're doing well! Love the production values in your vids. My opinion differs from yours in one significant way; you think that the only real way to fail is to give up (aside from bans etc). But I think running a business that is taking up your time but not making enough money to be worth it, is a failure too. I think, from my communications with sellers at all many levels, that their is the belief given out over the internet, that anyone can do Amazon, and that anyone can run a successful business. But I don't believe this to be the case, no more than anyone can be a Doctor, or anyone could be a Teacher. Sure, if you're willing to study up, learn about how to set up a business and the processes at Amazon, putting time and thought into the direction you want your business to go, then you probably can run an amazon business. But too many people are not willing spend a bit of time researching on youtube, or reading through the seller university. When they hit a problem, they dont think, "how am I going to resolve this? What do I need to learn and how do I need to apply this to reach a positive outcome?"" they think, "crap, I dont know what to do, someone else tell me how to fix it". Amazon is often referred to as a "side hustle" but people looking to set up a successful business, even if part time, should seriously think of it as a real business, and that they now have a second job. Biggest advice for people considering starting, would be to trade for a few months on Ebay first. There are no subscription costs eating up your start-up budget, and you only pay fees when you sell something. The fees are much lower for a private seller, especially with the discount offers every two weeks. You can set it up in 5 minutes and have a listing available for sale shortly after, and if you decide its not right for you, you can stop at any time with no penalty. Not only will that give you an understanding of online trading, but then you already have a small sole trading activity to fund your expansion onto Amazon. With Ebay you can start off with practically nothing, second hand junk sells for real cash... but for Amazon, with all the fees and subs, you need to hit the ground running with a nice wad of cash for stock and a plan of where you're going next.

Amazing over here hope you are all well and thank you for your comment on this vid also. When I do something I go all in. Not to get philosophical but I think any guy with ambition is an extremist to some extent, I'm not much of a dabbler so went full in amazon learning everything etc. Imagine half heartedly doing amazon that could throw you off completely especially as a beginner as you already know the returns are going to be minimal if any with low capital and lack of knowledge. Great point on ebay there at the end!

Thanks for the message mate! Certain top tier brands don't allow resale and this will show when trying to list. which strategy do you choose for your items?
@OddsOctopus
@OddsOctopus Жыл бұрын
I have noticed my repricer is very conservative and will often times go above the buy box too much if I do not set it to aggressive or super aggressive dominator. It's really case dependent but the majority of the time I prefer to get things sold quick and keep cash coming in so will chose either of the aggressive settings
@unknown-py2lv
@unknown-py2lv Жыл бұрын
@@OddsOctopus thanks! also, i know it's a broad question n case by case but roughly what would you say the percentage decrease in profit be if you were to set it to agressive instead of profit dynamic ? (just roughly cos ik you have experience)
@OddsOctopus
@OddsOctopus Жыл бұрын
due to the nature of it being case dependent it's impossible to tell however from experience I was always starting with the conservative strategies and then tapered up to more aggressive (now I typically set everything to aggressive as my catalogue is a lot bigger and want stuff moving). Repricers are always a case of playing about with it to see what works. Its all good going conservative to "make" more money but if it doesn't sell you wont actually make anything. The decrease in profit actually allows money to flow through quicker to buy more deals so in a way it can actually make you more money!! :)

To start with, its tough. But after a while you build up a mental list of replenishable items you can go back for over and over - which might turn a quiet day into a little profit. You will also build up your product knowledge, so you already know if something is cheap by seeing the price is lower than you may have seen it previously.
