The fact that they compliment people even when they lose makes this my favorite TV talent show. There's no need for someone who knows nothing about the craft to insult performers so having real magicians with a ton of experience complimenting even the people who "failed" is so nice to see.

I immediately saw how it's done, and it's quite visible when you see the letters on the back of the photos.

I feel like the game Yann is referring to is Dixit (though Americans would pronounce it as "dicks it", it's actually pronounced "deceit"). The name of the game, alone, gives away the trick to this performance, haha. Awesome work to pick a word that could be worked into an acronym, then find a way (without spoiling the trick) to work it into a 5-minute set.

I love how they reveal to the magician how their trick was done so well they fully understand. Meanwhile, I'm listening for subtle clues, not hearing a thing, and feeling a bit like picture number 2. lol

Well... Go back to the start and then realize, that his chosen words were "Helicopter", "Uacari", "Magician", "Alps", "New York"... Notice the first letter of ALL of those images, and then return to your statement, and see how it matters.

I think I know the trick. M works for mountain and monkey, so I feel that each picture has 5 words it could be. New York can be USA, metropolis, Urban, and so on.

It's pretty simple. The letters on the back of the cards are made of blocks, they are moveable. By using square font he can make any letter he wants from a pre defined movement mechanism on the back of the cards. So the moment he takes the cards with one hand he adjusts the letters to spell what he wants them to. If you look closely he holds the photos in the exact same way every time. So the moment Alyson chooses a number he presses a button or dial for example on the back that switches the letter on the fly
@emmastrange5557
@emmastrange5557 14 күн бұрын
I think it's actually more simple than that. The sides of each letter are the same two parralel lines, only the middle changes, so on the back of each painting it just those two lines and the middle is blank. On each stand there is a sheet of card painted to match the the colour of the stand on one side, on the back it's blue with a section painted white. On the first stand only the middle is white, so no matter what painting gets put there, when it's turned over it will be a H, and the same for every other letter.

I was thinking, ok, the letters in the back are clearly sus. But I was thinking how Alison's choice was correct, and then Penn gave me the clue, "What's the Monkey's name..?". That was the Aha! moment for me.

Each picture can be a word that starts with any of those 5 letters. I can see on the back of the pictures that it looks like the middle is adjustable or movable.

Notice he doesn’t name the photo still after they are placed. Secondly each back can display every letter so that it doesn’t matter what place they are in, he changes the names to always spell human and changes the back to display whatever letter it needs to be to spell human

Helicopter, US Forces, Marines, Aircraft, Navy Hairy, Uakari, Monkey, Ape, Nasty Hills, Ural mountains, Mountains, Alps, Nature Etc etc. He names them after she picked the order then flicks the centre of the back of each picture to the correct position to show that letter.

@@cristibaluta The middle of the letter is already on the easel faced down before the trick starts. When he place the paintings, it clipped to the paintings with magnets. The middle of the letter is that which determines what letter it is, and is already in the right order. Took me some time to figure it out as well.

It's sad to see how hard Alyson has hit the wall. It happens to everyone, and Alyson still looks fine for her age, but during the mid-late 90s she was probably the most attractive celeb on earth in an era when "slutty-preppy" was in and "cute" was unfortunately not what Hollywood wanted, she was a refreshing mix of cute and reserved beauty - a perfect looking woman for the time. It's inevitable but still sad when the wall claims another one of God's works of art. It reminds me of the relentless passage of time, and how fleeting youth is.

Haha Allison almost said back: "Dental work" stopped and said "dental... relatives" 😂 Everyones teeth Usually start to go a bit colored at her age and every celeb takes veneers. Hence one of the reasons why everyone always says celeb x looks young for their age.

The verbal distraction is incredible, and the big clue is not seeing behind each picture as they 'click' into place to set up the middle spelling. Helicopter could be UN, Navy and all pictures could have multiple names. My belief is Alison is following a script here. Listen to the verbal on the Helicopter choice, 'make sure it's a good one', spot chosen is position one.

This one was easy he had the ability to call the pictures anything he wanted.. instead of New York City it could have been Manhattan.. could have called that picture of monkey.. could have called the Alps mountains. He chose five pictures and he could have made them anything he wanted to spell human. As for the back of the picture I'm sure he had a slight of hand that he could change the letters to what he wanted
