Are there any sites that have full hookup with either tree cover or a view or both? I saw some closer to the water are wide open with no tree cover at all (full hookup)

If I remember correctly, the only FHU sites are those in the open with a view of the water. All right lined up next to each other.

I have been using a potato masher as a plunger. These off-grid videos show people aggressively agitating the laundry for several hard minutes. Like trying to get dried on food off dishes is hard unless you let the dishes soak, letting the clothes soak for a couple of hours means you really only have to stir the water every so often - don't need to get an aerobic workout.

I think I came up with an improvement. Try putting some river rock in the squeeze out bucket. Add more if you have fewer clothes. The water can drain better and you'll get extra leverage - infinitely adjustable. If the buckets are really strong you can add more weight on top and let it sit a a while. How about spinning that bucket around and round? I don't think that will work because imagine doing that at high speed for 3 minutes straight?
@ourcabinonwheels5 ай бұрын
It’s worth a try, if you have the energy!
@MisterDivineAdVenture5 ай бұрын
Excellent system. Looks to me like you can squeeze out another half of the water that's left by using a spacer underneath and adding weights on top and letting it sit? Or - a simple contraption to use a lever to add force.

There is an electrical outlet under the counter on the passenger side of the camper. A second one in the overhead cabinet, also on the passenger side. There’s a third under the dinette at the front of the camper, a fourth just inside the entry door by the sink.

When i was visiting Samoa in South Pacific for two months i was taught how to do laundry by hand. Must pick a day without rain (difficult because it rains alot in the tropics). Take two/5 gallon buckets fill with water in morning and leave in hot sun for couple hours. When water is warm put in clothes and soap. Carry buckets into shower room and if your feet are like mine shoe size 10.5-11 you can stand barefoot in each bucket. Lean standing into wall and stomp both feet up and down to agitate clothing. Drain soapy water and replace with clear water and rinse soap residue. Wring out excess water and hang on clothes line. If rain looks likely be ready to take down washing and wait for sun to come out.

I have seen Chinese hand-worked, simple washing machines where you wash by rotating a handle on the lid. Has anybody experience with it?
@kathleenmacdonald5511 Жыл бұрын
I was thinking about off grid laundry and I thought of my o cedar mop with the spinner. Why can't we get a spinner with a foot pedal that fits over the bath tub, large enough to do laundry? It would be hands free since you are using the foot pedal to get the process spinning. the spinner basket should lower into the detergent water filled tub to be able to agitate the clothes and it should be able to raise out of the water enough to spin to throw the water off. then use the shower nozzle or hose to rinse the clothes, then spin again to drain off the excess water. You would be able to see when your clothes are clean and clear of dirt or detergent rather than trust your electric washing machine. I would add a wringer also just to ensure the water is just drained off completely. I don't think this has been invented yet. Maybe you and your husband can invent it. All the off grid and tiny home families would buy it, as well as apartment dwellers who have to lug their laundry to a laundromat.
@marilynweber79578 ай бұрын
instead we uses the wringer for the big mop buckets - industrial yellow kind - not as good as the wringer for clothes but it works in a pinch to get more water out
