So many of my dreams for the church I grew up in have come to fruition in the past several years with the affirmation of Every. Body. and yet the Spirit is always working finding ways for us to continue the good work. I dream for Wilshire to continue to be a leader in our community and help change the perception of the Big C church. There will hopefully be a day that ALL are welcome within the walls of every church. We are the Big C church showing the Love of God to Every. Body. and we will continue the work of Christ by showing others a community of faith led from love not hate.

I dream our Wilshire family will be generous in gifting that we may share worship in the sanctuary and reach out into community where an unchurched generation of students are searching for a higher calling. Let us love enough.

This sounds exceedingly beautiful. I desire to understand every word but I find it difficult. May the Lord bless this choir.

This song we sing is our hearts’ prayer to you, O God of peace. Please send your dove, your Spirit of love, to help our torments cease. The world is tired of war and blood and fear, the tears we’ve cried, the pain inside: O Spirit, draw us near! So keep us true to our hearts’ vow to show the world your love. May bias wane and joy remain as we sing to you above. We pray, O God, you take away our fear, the tears we’ve cried, the pain inside: O Spirit, draw us near!

"Why do you believe what you do?" What an honest and simple question used to prick the heart of one soul. The question that came to me a few years ago was, "Would you still follow me (Jesus), even if you were the only one?" My faith in God has led me to ultimately separate from the church peoples of my past and their beliefs. I asked different questions and quiet questions. I found different perspectives to questions on my own and then in new communities of faith thanks to the Lord allowing me to go to a different seminary than I would have chosen for myself. It was a hard and lonely journey of being willing to go through other groups 'wearing the same jeans' until I found groups that welcomed all sorts of 'clothing,' and continuing to work through even more questions together. I'm still in this process. I'm glad you found such a space as well. Thanks for the sermon. 'Group think' is so real. I have to work to get out of it too and be courageous enough to ask and work through hard questions for myself as well as for the church.

Thank you for playing this, Jeff! When I heard of Emma Lou Diemer's passing it brought up memories of singing "Fragments from the Mass," and her "Alleluia" in undergraduate school. Joe and I are loving Connecticut and we have the great joy of singing in the New Haven Chorale. Here's a link to a recent piece that we sang in our final concert this season. <kzbin.info/www/bejne/r33dc2WZnqh_ibs> and also one that we sang at our yearly MLK concert. <kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3vXoH6nbcqLicU>

YES!!! this is at their level. ok well it's clear. ariel, you are picking pieces which are too difficult or in a stye that they aren't ready for. this is fabulous!
@Skipbo0004 ай бұрын
definitely a hard piece....
@Skipbo0004 ай бұрын
nope.... not yet. sorry. either they don't know it or the style is just not something they have learned to do. Ariel, you seem to like "speaky" songs. Lots of words, etc. oh my, Ariel, they just aren't ready for this repertoire.
@Skipbo0004 ай бұрын
come on choir, Ariel? this makes me question two things: the rehearsal process is lacking or a lack of quality voices. though a nice size the choir seems to have a majority of singers over 50 and it sounds it. I don't know this piece and honestly I don't think the choir does either. also some reverb in the mix would do wonders and can cover many mistakes. #1 rule: if we don't know it we don't sing it. bad singing is what killed choirs - time to admit it - it's our own fault.
