Most interesting, sir! Would you offer some detail? Like what pressure (can't read the gauge), turbine revs, and if you hooked up a generator/ dynamo and if so, how that performed. And also what type of bearings. Calendar bearings for the turbine and ball bearings for the gears?

Cool! I see you basically run the same way like me: Steam throttle and reversing mechanism on separate controls/channels. Most people I see put them on single stick operation... I use the left and right side sliders though (reversing mechanism proportional) and more have the habit of setting a throttle position and doing most of the manouvering with the reversing mech. I guess, so many people, so many ways, huh? :D

I notice watching your video... you have over 20 volts, hits almost 90% of of your power output, and yet your peak RPM was only 7761? Unless you have a 380 KV motor, that RPM is reading just as wrong as mine... I dont think Castle and Telemetry have the bugs worked out.. I have some wild shit happening with mine..
@mooniedizzel64433 ай бұрын
I never put the pole count in the castle esc. It was 800kv with 6s lipo, off storage charge. So the volts was right but the pole count was off. I used a castle Sbus telemetry link.

If I may be so free to give advise: I see you're a pretty skilled builder and fabricator: Install a wickfeed oiler to lubricate the main bearings, crossheads and eccentrics, and your engine will thank you for it with an even smoother running and much less mess in your engine room. Here's mine (I am not as good a builder as you are :D ): kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2K7gmaKobGikLs (this is with a four bladed Raboesch prop, immersed in water)

Vary good idea.
@rigididiot6 ай бұрын
@@mooniedizzel6443 FWIW: I drilled two holes 2 mm diameter in the crosshead guides, just above the top of the stroke. There's not much space there, but just enough. I used brass tubing 2 mm outer, 1 mm inner diameter for the oil feed. The oil lands on top of the crosshead "piston" and from there spreads evenly all around. I do not see even the slightest bit of running marks in the guides after 56 hours of runtime (boat in water runtime, I mean). The oil reservoir is approx 10 ml (1/3 oz) with 7 wicks feeding 2 crossheads, 3 main bearings and 2 Excenter sets. Cotton yarn (abt 1 mm thick) is used for wicks. Oil consumption is very low, if I had to estimate less than half ml/hr all wicks combined, but the engine is perfectly lubricated with that tiny bit of oil. I use Synth engine oil 10W40 (same I use for my bike) but I don't think the oil type is critical.

@@rigididiot I got a ratchet pump I was going to try out. Maybe I’ll try the wick first.
@rigididiot6 ай бұрын
@@mooniedizzel6443 I have been thinking about those ratchet pumps. I concluded that they only work for a single lubricating point (like the cylinder lubrication) but not for multiple points, since you cannot control whether the oil evenly distributes over all points. For all you know 95% of the oil goes one way. And you need minimum 2 (the crossheads) but ideally 7 independent oil supplies. I want to see if I can make a plunger pump for cylinder lubrication, because I prefer precise control, or maybe a ratchet pump (they can be commercially had, and I'm a poor fabricator :D). The wickfeed, for someone with your skills should be what? 2 hours work tops, from cutting material to finished and functional product...

I have the TL01 and I experienced a lot of glitching with my XLX2 1100KV setup in my Outcast 8s if I mashed the throttle from a dead stop or even tried to ease into it on a speed run O would get an instant hesitation out of the ESC. I also kept getting the sensor error tone from the ESC as well I tried to reprogram everything to no avail so I eventually just removed the TL01 and I haven't had any issues since wonder if maybe I got a bad TL01?

@mooniedizzel6443 I have the Futaba 10PX it came with the R404SBS F-4G receiver so I don't know if it's just a glitch or whatever? But like I said I've removed the TL01 and haven't had any issues with it since. I also have the same receiver in my Losi 5ivet with a gas engine in it as well and haven't experienced any glitching from it.I even have a Temp sensor hooked up to my SBus2 port and it doesn't seem to effect anything at all? So maybe I just have a bad TLO1 that doesn't want to talk properly to the receiver and ESC?
