How do you record your electric as a lap steel? Is there something your tweaked on the guitar for it?

Sorry for not going in depth on this one! I recorded a few layers of me playing slide guitar lead lines. Once I got the note/interval selections that I liked: I used volume automation to essentially lengthen the attack of the notes to get a more smooth pedal steel kind of sound!
