Currently in temp job in a pub earning minimum wage making £1400 a month its abismall struggling to even save to pay for the irata training if you have any advice like a way to get into this work, which jobs are decent pay when starting out any tips ect. my background is van delivery driving and a long time ago did a couple years as a carpenter loft conversions.
@jaysysumakaRatMaster38 күн бұрын
I understand your situation; the rope access industry can seem difficult to get into at first, but once you’re in, it’s definitely worth the effort. Given your background in delivery driving and carpentry, you already have some transferable skills that can be valuable in this field as well as dealing with customers in the bar. Here are a few tips on how to get started and possibly secure funding for IRATA training: 1. Start with Research: One of the biggest misconceptions people have when they start out in the industry is they are a climber first and foremost. This is the wrong way to look at it. You need a skill to offer. Rope access is purely a means of getting to where you’re going to work. If you’re young enough to do an apprenticeship I’d always suggest this first. Anyone can learn to be a rope access technician in a week. Get a trade behind you, electrician, Non destructive testing inspector, welding, pipe fitting, painting, spraying and blasting, blade repair (if you’re young enough) bridge inspection, window cleaner, glazing installation. Having a driving license is definitely a good skill to have though. Learn about IRATA skills on the Access Techniques KZbin page. If you can do your training there as well, it guarantees a good level of training and assessment. I personally started out installing fall arrest roof safety equipment for the first year working for a rope access company. 2. Look for Entry-Level Jobs: Some companies might offer positions where you don’t need a full IRATA qualification right away, but can gain experience while working towards it. You could start by looking for roles like trainee technician or general laborer with companies that already specialize in rope access. They might help with the cost of training once you’ve proven yourself on site. I know plenty of guys who worked as store men in rope access companies getting vans ready for lads to pickup on a Monday morning. 3. Reach Out to Rope Access Companies: Contact local rope access companies and express your interest in working in the industry. Some companies may have training schemes or offer financial support to help you get your IRATA qualification in exchange for a commitment to work with them for a set period. 4. Grants or Funding: While grants specifically for IRATA training can be hard to come by, you can look into some general schemes. For example: • Jobcentre Plus offers advice on training schemes and may have funding options, especially if you’re on a low income. • Trade Unions sometimes offer grants or financial help for workers looking to gain new qualifications, especially in industries like construction. • Charities such as the Prince’s Trust or Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) can sometimes provide funding or support for training. 5. Consider Other Types of Funding: If you’re struggling to save for the course, look into personal development loans or even crowdfunding options. Some people have successfully used platforms like GoFundMe to raise money for professional training. I hope these suggestions help, All the best in your pursuits.

Why leave a comment like this? This game isn’t a simcade on console for starters. Firstly,It’s the same game on console as it is on pc and you’ll not convince me otherwise cause I’ve tried it. Secondly, not everyone has access or the funds to play these games on a wheel or sim rig so I took the time to create a control pad setup that gives as much fidelity as possible for a control pad user. Thirdly, why are you even watching this video if you’re searching for control pad settings? Grow a brain cell before posting such a comment.

So as long as this video helps the right people it’s doing its job. It’s people like you with a snobby attitude that sour the sim racing community. Bloody fast time by my standards, nicely done! I did notice your PSI’s in your front were on average 0.5 higher than your rears. I wonder if you’d find more front end grip and feel more planted going over the top with even pressures? Maybe try out lowering the fronts by 0.4 psi? That should keep them “in the window” at or under 27. On the other hand that could end up inducing on throttle oversteer - I’d be curious how that plays out.

Good Drive - Excellent Commentary! Re ACE: expectations can certainly generate unrealistic consumer reactions coupled with buyers remorse. I've seen this with the recent release of 'Wotld of Outlaws '24'. I'm a dirt racing fan, attend local races, etc. Had the '22 edition and pre-ordered the '24 Gold Edition. I'm really enjoying the game: its simcade, I'm ok with that as while its not iRacing it has a career mode that iRacing does not have. There is a vocal minority on social media complaining - 'Why didn't they add this, that, why wasn't this included, etc.' For a long time prior to release the games website listed - exactly - what would be included in the new edition. Yet people will complain about what they expected as opposed to what they were told. We've had one 1:30 trailer for ACE which told us absolutely nothing of substance. No game play, just eye candy. Yet numerous creators have spent a ridiculous amount of time attempting to dissect it and speculate what 'might' be included in the game. This can create unrealistic expectations especially for the casual player.

@@jaysysumakaRatMaster3 Well, to be honest, I had the phone on a stand and was working on my McClaren setup while I was listening! This brings up an interesting point: creator's motivation. Personally, I don't care if a creator uses YT as a 'job' as long as the information is valuable to me. That said, in my opinion, there are far too many YT creators in the sim racing ecosystem that simply pump out content for views / clicks and monetization. Their vids. are really about 'them' and how they present: the actual information is secondary and often counterfactual. Obviously, you're not one of them and your concern and enthusiasm for the hobby always comes through. I'm an 'old guy' and started sim racing with dial up modems and bulletin boards way before YT and social media took over. No, I don't want to go back to the 'good old days' but back then it was certainly easier to source out good information because the game companies released fairly polished product (infrequent patches, no DLC's) with excellent supplemental product. In the box was a printed book - a complete 'how to' and a whole printing industry developed publishing guide books. The business model was to produce a complete game with no expectation of additional patches to bring it up to spec. The casual new player looking to get into the hobby must be overwhelmed at this point. Keep up the excellent content!

Thanks again JP, always welcome your feedback. I certainly remember the days you would crack open a new game case and flick through the manual while the game loaded. I guess in some shape or another I've also been sim-racing since the days of PS1 and the very first iteration of Gran Turismo. Coming from the Old Sega Mega Drive the Ps 1 was mind blowing, and being unemployed at the time it launched I had no desire to find a job while living at home. But... Coming back to the issue at hand. Game creators, I don't think there will every be a time like back then. Games could never be finished or I doubt they would ever be released. There's just too much work goes into each game now... Well at least if it's worth it's salt. Lets just hope ACE lives up to all the hype.

I've watched this several times and don't understand what they thought they would accomplish with this trailer. It showed nothing: no substance, nothing definitive, no game play. Eye candy only. Its as if they made a simple movie type 'teaser trailer' relying solely on their core demographic to automatically purchase as if they were lemmings. Ask yourself if after watching this 'you' could make an informed decision (i.e., purchase) - ? I've been sim racing since 1998 and I was completely let down. I really hope subsequent trailers will actually be informative. The only bright spot was the cut scene of opposed traffic in an opposite lane.

Turned off the Xbox and the next day I came back and the wheel wouldn’t go into Xbox mode no matter what I tried. Switched the usb into my pc and opened the Fanatec software and it showed no wheel was present on my rig. I couldn’t even flash the firmware with an old version I had because it doesn’t even recognise the wheel is there now. Now it’s a waiting game to see if they respond again. You could search through the Fanatec chat lobby and see if there are some older drivers to manually flash the firmware.
