Thanks for the video, it helped me diagnose the problem with my brothers RumblePad 2 (I disassembled the controller and checked the cable with a multimeter but didn't realize movement might be the factor that disconnects it), need to replace the cable as soon as I find a suitable replacement!

Cut the cable off after the break, expose the wires, open up the gamepad, cut the wires going to the old cable. Then either splice the newly exposed wires to the old ones, or if you're comfortable with a soldering iron, unsolder the old wires and solder the new ones into the holes in the circuit board. Then use a zip tie around the cable to prevent it being pulled out of the case. Alternately, you may be able to work the old cable out of the strain relief and get it back on the cut cable. It may look like it's molded on, but it's not. If the break in the cable is too far down, leaving you with a short cable, just get a cheap USB keyboard or mouse. If your area is anything like mine, people literally throw them away. You could use a generic USB cable, but they're thicker and you'll have a problem fitting it in the case, plus the wire will be stiffer.
