Having a poduct desgn degree and a previous manufacturing technician experience, what is your best advice if I want to go for a mechanic designer career?
@newtonianworld3 ай бұрын
Hi Kacem, My best bet would be to create a mechanical design portfolio to emphasize your skills. Your manufacturing experience is great, and it will definitely give you an upper hand as a mechanical design engineer. I did research on what the required skills for mechanical design engineers; you can read it here: newtonianworld.com/2023/05/18/fortune-500-mechanical-design-engineer-jobs/ --> this will give you a good understanding of what is required for mechanical design engineers to land a job. Then, watch my video about mechanical design portfolio: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKirhmWJh5Zsj5I After that, you can watch my video on how to build a mechanical design portfolio: kzbin.info/www/bejne/on-5mHmfh66mpdE And then you can watch this video on how to get a job: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJ25i5Zvfd2DhtU This will give you a good idea of how to start and prepare for job hunting. For start, you could focus on entry-level jobs, they usually require no previous experience, and it is easier to build a portfolio for entry-level jobs. You could also research the job requirements in your area and see what skills are required by the companies in your area, and focus on emphasizing those skills in your portfolio. It will take some time to build a design portfolio, but it is a lots of fun :D I hope this helps!

Thanks for the comment! Not every university in the world has the same curriculum, and not every student goes for Master's degree. And not every student immediatelly realize they would like to go in the direction of design engineering, they might choose the direction that could, for example, focus more on the manufacturing. This video can help them to see which gaps they need to fill. On the other hand, you know how the universities are structured, you have to pass every exam in order to get the degree. And if you want to become design engineer without the degree, you can use this video as a guide to which subjects you should focus on.

Great video! One question, would you be willing to look over my CV if I sent it to you? My issue is that I want to get a job but had to do my internship during Cov-19, so it was online for a company doing menial tasks in Excel. Nothing to woe the future employer. Doesn't help that every other job I've held was unrelated to MEng. Pozz! (Cilj je Hr->At)
