Does one compitulate a guess to what it may cost to become the Bodhisattva Maitreya? I ask because I actually have the answer, be aware it was a disturbing beyond understanding trade.

I feel this book very discrimination behavior though Dorje Shugden practictioners. It's was peaceful between four traditionals and Dorje Shugden over centuries. Now, their Tibetan Leadership act like Nazi to Jewish. They just kick out their beloved masters and friends just because some ignorant notions rise up. DalaiLama always talks about Compassion, Peace and Love but their actions is absolutely different. I hope your page will not endorse any kind of discrimination books like this but you will focus in purely arts and beautiful of Tibetan Cultures. Thanks.

I just got this book. I've found it randomly in an antique book store. It is a nice thing to have, especially for an introduction, but it has several issues. As Jeff said it is mostly dealing with gompas in Ladakh. Plus many key pictures about the monks are actually Bon. While they have very similar appearance as the buddhist monks it is still good to keep in mind. I think some of the key terms have not so precise or even wrong interpretations in the book. While I liked the gompa architecture/layout part. It could be even a larger part. The description of different monasteries at the end of the book is all over the place. It is more like a quick table of contents and not really useful. And the pictures are not even matching. No maps etc.

I've watched an excellent documentary on Bon religion on KZbin. It tells of the many practitioners today & takes us far back in time when the belief system was followed throughout Tibet & beyond. It describes how Buddhism forcefully overthrew Bon, substituting its own statues, art & monasteries. Present day practitioners are in the documentary. It is extremely well done in my opinion.

Buddhism came from India. In his teachings there is no such thing as God . All this r created by few people for their own benefit and later became aristocracy through out generations up until now. and , they still rule over ordinary people in the name of Dalai lama as a God

With all the differences let’s find some common ground , and common practice for the common man 😂😊 you are all born with the mark of the ancient Monpas , later also called the mongol mark , the blue birthmark all is you are born with and later dissolves , mongols being one of the inheritors, from the Tibetan plataue where my kaliash also called mt meru but originally called kora koram ( kora means to go around ) the whole mt range is called the korakorrum range, believed to be the center of the world with its peak somewhat allined to the four direction of the compass and from wher the four great rivers of Asian begins also has a salt lake and sweet water lake , signifying life and death The Tibetan platue was once just called ling/ Mon and the monpas the most ancient of the Asian dna comes from, so they say !!! Rest from Tibetans Chinese Koreans viets , all Asians looking ppl all the way to the people of South America are just their off spring. With the same dna markers and same blue mark on their backside 😂😊 And the ancient symbol also used by the mongol empire , the most ancient symbol( on the left, profile ) the sun, moon the trident on the blue background signifying the ocean and sky and the blue birthmark we are born with) Basically the Sun and moon with the three pointed flame and also diving falcon and also the trident 🔱 which is also a weapon but also symbolises the past present and future but unlike the Mongolian flag there is a six sided star or two diffrent triangles that makes up the star. The three points that make up tue first triangle signifies , father mother and child ( the base for family and by extension to base of society and the second triangle signifies knowledge will and action and the dot in the middle signifies the individual who is the center / beginning who has trained in knowledge and has the will to take action leading his society and civilisation forward And the individual practices to better himself by gaining knowledge does physical exercise to reach his/ her physical optimum And sits in meditation to better understand his / her knowledge and physical form and mediate into the beyond and the fourth which balances out the individual is to do service for his neighbours , while conducting his own private life be it in business ets but to keep in mind charity and extending help to the less fortunate So basically an individual who exercise , reads and does mediation and is also a helpful neighbour Who will one day marry and create a family based on knowledge will and action and the sun and moon signifies living in harmony with nature . So find your inner superman my mediating , studying and exercising and be a good neighbour ❤❤❤ Secret terma revealed ❤❤❤ Before meditation 🧘 do some exercise or yoga to get the blood flowing or prostrate 108 times Then take a hot shower followed by a cold 🥶 shower this will wake up your nervous system and fortify ur health Sit for meditation , start with a dedication prayer or mantra this will wake up your mind and sound vibrations also will help build memory and concentration Then sit in mediation , first you can use a butter lamp 🪔 look at the fire 🔥 with half closed eyes this will help from distractions and monkey mind also imagine the flame which you see at the middle of your eyebrows. Time to time close your eyes you will see the flame in side your mind . Try placing the flame at the tip of your pineal gland ( see picture of brain to locate pineal gland) Then take the syombol of the star And moon with the six pointed star and meditate on it focusing on the dot! This will also help center the mind and help stop monkey mind . Imagine the dot as a brilliant light in dot form , place that dot at the tip of the pineal gland, Remember bhuddism is rational science and as the bhuddha said “ behind every other is a reasoning” the pineal gland releases good chemicals that elevate your mood improve your health and remember the body is controlled by electrical pulse that begins in the 🧠 brain ( a though cause an electric ⚡️ pulse that sends orders to the nervous system which in turn controls the muscles 💪 This symbol will help remove inner , outer and secret obstacles and can be placed any where as a flag picture or sticker , but remember what it signifies , living in harmony with each other and nature by an awakened individual who exercise mediates and studies but also remember prayers without action is wishful thinking this a person should while being knowledgeable also follow with will and action to improve his surroundings Remember all rites , music and prayers cause a physical emotional and mental response and directly effect your body with chemical releash from the brain Rember the triple gem and follow ur life in the with fold path and you will find liberation without pursuing it , like finding a dollar note on the road by luving in the 8 fold path and exercising studying mediating and doing seva / service ( being a good neighbour) liberation is spontaneously achieved breaking the bonds of karma and the cycle of birth and rebirth Guru
Nice video! Can you make a video about the symbolism seen in Nepal where a stupa carved with Buddha statues is superimposed on a linga? What does it mean and the cultural practice?
May his soul rest in peace. Amen. May all who love him find comfort.

This video and the comments below are the best examples of how Westerners self isolate and thus develop distorted perceptions of the world. Today in the Xizang Autonomous Region, there are more than 30000 Bon temples, more than 100000 full-time clergy, and hundreds of thousands of Bon believers. I have been to several of the largest Bon temples, which are very magnificent and spectacular. Regarding the history, culture, and teachings of Bon religion, there are countless publications in both Chinese and Tibetan languages. Bon culture flourished, but as a result, Westerners were unaware of it? ha-ha.

Only bcz it doesn't meets your world gaze and social standards doesn't means it aweful, you exist in the universe the universe doesn't exist with you it has so many dynamic energies that are beyond your imagination which you won't be able to comprehend nor do they need to please you; just like that Shri Mahamaya-Maheshwar are the one above and beyond everything (even beyond the concept of right and wrong) and therefore they don't need to please you or meet your worldly standards bcz it's not us mere humans (who's existence is literally nothing in front of the multiverse and hyperverse or the existence of reality plane and their owner the supreme Shri GauriShankar) who made them it's them who made us and it is also their great kindness and love that they allowed us and gave us the power to worship them and achieve the supreme consciousness or other goals so you better shutup with your fake catholic divinity and it's idiotic views.

As someone who grew up as a Tibetan Bonpo, I believe I can explain why Bon religion is not well known in rest of the world. First and foremost, Bon settlement in exile (Dholanji) was built in one of the remotest parts of India, and only few western scholars have made it there. This remoteness, however, turned out to be a mixed blessing because outside distractions were an absolute minimal while producing a great number of learned monks with Geshe degree (doctorate). Most of these Geshes did not speak English so they could not readily go overseas to teach or write books in English. While it might seem like a disadvantage not being able to publicize the religion for its expansion, most monks put more emphasis on practicing the religion than going to the west. This principle had taken root through the leadership of Yongzin Lopon Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche, and the late 33rd Abbot of Meri Monastery in Dholanji who planted the seed of humility, authenticity, focus on preservation, and the rigorous standards of monastic trainings. The other reason why Bon isn't well known could be explained through the lens of the well known Tibetan historian Tashi Tsering la who has forthrightly pointed out that many western scholars come very biased when it comes to Tibetan religious sects or Bon religion. Sadly the centuries of religious persecution and lies against Bonpos since the 7th century has morphed into intentional underrepresentation or often misrepresentation by western scholars against the Bon religion. Except for a few great human beings like the late Namkai Norbu Rinpoche, Professor Per Kavaener, and Tibetan historian Tashi Tsering la, who had challenged the rest of us to open our minds, most scholars and lamas today still do not take part in publicly acknowledging Bon history and religion as the foundation of Tibetan civilization and religion. When they rarely do mention about Bon religion, they always take try take the deflate it by spreading notions of Black Bon, and White Bon. The Black Bon is supposedly what it originated with (Shamanistic and animistic) and the White Bon is discredited as copy of Tibetan Buddhism. Anyway, thanks if you read this far! Let me say this: Today, religious teachings are served like fast foods. The danger is when people get fed up with fast foods, the true meaning of religion might get tossed in the garbage bin.

I am from Gurung clan of Nepal. We still follow Bon religion, Black bon as you said because we are shaministic and animistic but as a youngster we have less knowledge regarding our religion, how it originated. This helped me a lot to know about my religion. Thank you so much. You can check how we perform our death retuals by typing " Gurung arghum retual" on youtube. Hope it might be the same as you said about Black bon.
