Such a shame that these priceless recordings are now spoiled by Adverts. These particular readings by Ajahn Amaro have been on KZbin for a long time. They were always pristine and pure....but advertisements are such an intrusion, in fact one made me jump out of my skin as it appeared suddenly and very loud. Fortunately I possess the printed version of Ajahn Chah's teachings which I will use instead. I realise KZbin are a typical capitalist money grabbing machine and that it's not your fault, but I do feel these commercials will cause people to turn away from listening.

Thankyou, utterly, for this offering. The late, Teacher, was clearly a very good guide to all who want to find the true way. I practice Soto Zen. I bow, hands held in prayer position, to his Mahaprajna and Mahakauna*

The talk about right speech, especially about backbiting, is very helpful. I find it the most difficult part of the Noble Eightfold Path.

When we will see ourselves as others, I guess then we will give love to our children not the fleeting pleasures of life which will give them the true purpose of life to find their own Buddha nature

Quite a deep talk. Suffering is real and far deeper than temporary pleasures. Not every parent can give their child motorbike or car but they will still out of love borrow wealth to fulfill these desires of children which don't last. So what should we give them? Answer is clear: Dharma. Friendship and love for suffering. And they will grow up well. ❤

I find myself needing to play this on a higher playback speed so that it does not sound like he is drugged. Still not quite right for me but better for sure. Trivial point I concede and I can tolerate the original speed for reflective parts of the talk. Thank you not meaning to demean in anyway just curious why it seems so garbled at the normal setting.

Modern research on Near Death Experience by Raymond moody, reincarnation memories by Ian Stevenson/Jim trucker and past lives regression by Brian Weiss all independently but coincidentally show that our consciousness survive death, we live many lives and our thoughts and actions matter in the hereafter. This is in line with Buddhist teachings. So be kind and helpful to others, be virtuous, meditate and cultivate ourselves to higher spiritual levels. Cheers.
