I'm just about to send off my application after enquiring in-store and finding a vacancy. I was psyching myself out a bit as to whether I was well-read enough to apply, but your video has put me more at ease about the whole thing :) Thank you for sharing your experience and advice!

OMG,Hi Anna Talks, am so greatful for your video.😞it was just yesterday i went to waterstones and i was told by one of the staff members they have vecancy, and she made it sound so easy, i was over the moon. so i applied. but i found today that i was rejected. and i cried so much cause i have been after a chance to apply for waterstones for literally a year. now that i finally got the opportunaty to apply. it was a dead end. all my previous experiences have been in hospitality and retail. i am confident that i have what it takes to work in a bookstore. i am so heartbrroken honestly because in my cover letter i talked about my love for reading, from when i was a kid to now. throughout the years my reading habbits kind of fizzeled out due to personal issue. but a few years ago i got back to reading again so much so that i have more books than clothes. i study medical biology at the moment however i really wish to build carrier for my self around books. but so far my social media presence has been the closest i got to that dream. i dont understand how and why they rejected me😭😭 i really dont want to give up . am sorry this is the longest comment in the history but i didnt know who to talk to about this😓.

Zines are the lifeblood of DIY publication. I taught a class last summer to middle schoolers at the Portland Art Museum and I love the amount of variation in zines. Looks like you had a great haul! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you A LOT! I previously published my comics in a book form but it is just too expensive, but I want to continue to make my short story/comics. I stopped because I got dejected over the costs. This inspires me (with resources) to do it IN SMALL DOSES! Thanks a ton, from the United States!

Really great content, love your enthusiasm and passion. But maybe it's because i am a bit older...well quite a lot older than you, I come from an age where the punk zines of the time were seriously hand made/ DIY products, and I always think of " Zines" on like you said old newspaper type paper stock, certainly a matt finish?! That's just my personal opinion! Otherwise really well done!

I totally agree that 'doing something with your hands' is a great solution to doom scrolling and getting out of your head. Totally a way to calm people! I'm a writer usually, but recently I've been very invested in zines - which I find very meditative

Im sorry but a dissertation is also brand new too. My course was social humanities and for the dissertation we had to come up with an whole new concept with new reasoning that had never been done before. We could regurgitate infirmation but it had to be original. Zines are not new either in their concept. Both have to be original. I'm not against zines btw. Im an anarcho punk n create zines myself. My dissertation was also on how the law is created to keep the poor suppressed and the rich protected.

Hey Anna it’s a year late and your video could still help an individual who is located an ocean away from you. I stay in South Africa started working in this Rainbow book shop. I just started today and after work I was just clouded with to many information on different book, different authors and other things about the work. Went through KZbin trying to learn if there’d be any lessons on my situation, and I have to say I am so lucky that I came across your video at first site. It’s perfectly sums up everything. Thanks your and have a blessed day❤

I’m in the US but hoping to get a job at a smaller book store or somewhere like barnes & noble or half priced books. I have social anxiety and autism so I’m hoping the environment will help me bring me out of my shell and get experience? What are your thoughts? Do you think the environment is too fast paced for someone like me? 😓 I’m 22 so my social anxiety is much more manageable than it used to be..

This video was so well made and I really loved watching it! I strongly agree with all you said in the video and believe that shows like Heartstopper are so important. Watching Heartstopper for the first time made me cry a lot because it was so validating for me - it was watching it that finally made me feel really comfortable to express and talk about my queerness openly :)

I work at a beautiful new library and people walk in every day saying: 'I want to work here!' That's lovely, but it's a Union job, so it's three years picking up casual shifts at the minimum to apply for a posting, and you need your info tech cert. (2 years). I wish it was easier...

I agree with you in everything, I'm 16 and I'm really happy that I can see more and more queer characters in media, Heartstopper really has that bubblegum almost 'too happy' feeling, but I loved that, I needed this positive show. I figured out my sexuality 3 years ago, I hated myself but some shows on netflix, the internet and my friend group helped me to accept myself, and I feel lucky to have these things as a queer teen. And one more thing I love about the show is that the cast members are really teenagers and they shown their skin mistakes, and didn't covered it with makeup, it told me that it's totally NORMAL to have pimples, and not a perfcet skin. I loved your video and your cute drawing, today I will draw my friends in a heartstopper style💙💛

hi Anna, I discovered your channel literally yesterday because of your drawings for ruby's planner and I just wanted to say I really love it here. I watched quite a few of your videos now and I'm absolutely going to keep up with whatever you do next. your style and whole aesthetic is super cool and you seem like such a wonderful person. also I've never heard of the concept of a zine before I saw your videos on it but I am definitely gonna look into them more now. funky little booklets on niche subjects is exactly my cup of tea :) I hope you have a nice day 🌈
