Just an idea to cope hand guard attack windshield when turning max handle bar left or right, and also less reducing wind come to helmet, you may try to put spacer to 2 upper windshield mounting bolt so that windshield can have more standing up in order to create more wind deflection upward, the thickness of the spacer will depend to the trial which you can do step by step/try & error scheme, goodluck

I have a ‘24 Transalp, a ‘22 DR 650, and a ‘23 390 Adventure. All similar intentions, but each better at specific aspects. Bd cool if a manufacturer made something around a 575 cc, with a blend between the DR and the 390.

@@teslageek9257 thanks for the input. Was thinking himi then watched a couple negative reviews. (with the low top speed I'm second guessing it) Then found the 390 at local shop. Not open till tomorrow though. I have a 2017 versys. Want something a tad smaller to ride off road a bit more. Thanks again bud!

@@HookLineSinkerOfficial I had a first gen Himalayan. I rode it from NC to UT and back in 2020. It made it, would not do it again. I don’t know for off road I’d buy the 390, it’ll do it okay. I’m using it for more twisty mountain rides and gravel, good for that especially road. If off-road focus a Honda 300 L would be worth looking at. Chasing the unicorn is fun, but at least two bikes to do it. I’d replace the Versys with the 390, but if you like the Versys for road, I’d add the 300 L or similar for off road. 🤷♂️

@@teslageek9257 Cool, yea I saw your comment and figured you had some real world experience with bikes I'm looking at. I plan to keep the Versys (for throwing wife on back and luggage for long distance 2 up) , (but its been giving me starting issues code 21 that I've been working on correcting) (getting pretty annoyed with it) I'm 5'7 with shoes on so wanted a easy to touch ground bike, and lighter. Guess the xt 250 best bet in the dual sport , but once again freeway speed issues lol. I don't plan on hardcore off road more putting around occasional blip of throttle here and there for a kick.😁 Thanks for the food for thought!

Just roll your handlebars back a notch and your problems solved, it will no longer tap your windscreens. Or preferably buy a new bar riser from a known company that will actually work as you need it to by rising the bars and shifting them towards you enough to maintain comfort and performance… But first and foremost as a 40+ year rider I’ll say that you should never, I say never trust anything from Amazon, alibaba, Temu, ect… that your putting your life at risk using, like those cheep ass bar risers, that’s a critical part. Therefore when they fail you only have yourself to blame because you went cheep on a critical part… I suggest you buy your hand guards from one of them cheap import companies, as it’s a consumable part. The big question comes down to are you are willing to stake your life on a cheap ass “bar riser“ sold on Amazon… and when it fails & it will ( using as a dualsport) to whom are you going to seek compensation? Jeff Bezos & Amazon or the factory he’s partnered with to make the same part under 15 -50 different names ? And when the lawsuits come they are always out of business, because the “brand” only existed on paper to begin with … because it’s just another CCP owned company??? So Good luck with getting anywhere with that… Just remember any part that could cause you to crash that can it you or worse yet a loved one or nearby riding buddy should always be bought from a known reputable company… PS: also as a newer rider stay away from hard cases unless you like the idea of getting a broken legs… I know a few old pros that have gotten fractured legs from those aluminum side boxes, hard sharp corners and bones don’t get along… there’s enough stuff on motorcycles that can hurt or kill you, not to even mention all the idiots behind the wheels of cars on TikTok… just trust me on that I’m old enough to remember the days of bolting ammo boxes to motorcycles to use for tool boxes.

As you mentioned, pretty much any bike you buy for adventure/off road use, will need additional protection. As far as suspension, if you're someone that appreciates suspension tuned to your likes, it's worth it and you'll do it to whatever bike you buy. Good review on a bike I never thought I'd be considering. As I get older, I'm beginning to appreciate a lighter bike for solo adventure and I keep coming back to this "beginner" bike as a serious contender.... Thanks again!

Yes! to everything you said. I have the 2023, with the onroad & offroad modes. These do the job in altering ABS & TC behavior, so no need to fuss further with the menu. Learned here that the earlier model has 2 rear DC outputs and the front one. 2023 only has the one on the instrument panel, so that's a downgrade. Otherwise, all good.

Just found this review & subscribed. Amazingly, except for my not knowing then about the Norden 901, I went through exactly the same process, thought exactly the same way about all the competitors (including the Versys 300 being the last alternative), and decided on the 2023 KTM Adventure SW for exactly the same reasons. I'm glad I chose the KTM and am happy you are too. In addition to the advanced electronics, so much of this bike is adjustable. The only mod I consider necessary is horizontal, larger foot pegs. The only one I consider highly desirable is a Fuel X Lite.

My 390 and Svartpilen 401 both can be pretty easily stalled in stock configuration if you’re not being careful. The fuelx controller totally changed that and now it’s very hard to stall.

It's crazy how the Vit and Svart are the same bike except for tires, bars, footpeg position and colour I just bought a Vit yesterday and was staring at the Svart the whole time because I think it's hands down the nicer of the two. (I only bought the Vit because it was $6080 all in while the Svart was $6800+ tax) $400 for new tires and $450 for bar conversion I can turn a Vit into a white Svart.

@makmoto06069 ай бұрын
Unless you’re strictly concerned with the better off-road bike, hands down I’d get the 390. Great all around bike and still very capable off road. KLX would be unpleasant and boring to road trip for any amount of time and lacks fuel range of 390.

Try holding the footpeg in alignment with the actual attachment point not 1” behind it. They line up pretty close. This is a totaly bad and false review due to the user not knowing sh@$ about stuff
@makmoto06069 ай бұрын
I think you missed point, which was the angle the pegs formed with the centerline of the bike. That they are not at a perpendicular fore and aft, but angle forward. I was holding the stock pegs in the plane with the footpeg hinge to demonstrate the angle not the distance. Perhaps you should calm down and do a double take before spreading hateful nonsense.

My best tool for going down steep decents, is just start rolling down and leave the clutch out in 1st gear. Easiest way to control the bike, the engine braking wont lock the rear but is enough drag to limit it about 8mph letting u focus on your line. U can work in the front brake a little whenever but u never need it if u dont touch the throttle.
