Great video! Especially because the miracle of life has great meaning to me! My brother Dan Fasano purchased this vessel to sink’. Dan actually passed on June 9th 2009 the day the boat was sunk. 😊
@johnslaughter54752 күн бұрын
According to what I read, the Baker detonation was an underwater blast. The tremendous amount of water that came back down on Saratoga's stern collapsed her flight deck as if a giant had stomped on it.
@InternationalScubaDiversClub2 күн бұрын
You are correct! If you check out at the end of the video, on the footage of the Saratoga sinking, you'll see that it went down stern-first (the last part seen on the surface es the number 3). That said, divers who got to visit it on the early days (Brad Sheard for instance) comment that the stern section, including the hangar (or hanger) deck was still there with planes inside. Definitely the main impact was there, as it is nowadays collapsed. Lastly, there are more details on de detonations on the Intro video (link on description) and when we close the series there will be a video solely on Operation Crossroads to go deeper into these types of details. Thanks a lot for the comment!

Graf Zeppelin can also be dived in the Baltic Sea.

Oh! There’s always one more! I didn’t know about it… I’ll add it for the Spanish version of the video and of course it is now I my bucket list! Have you dived it?
@Marcusinthemix2 күн бұрын
@@InternationalScubaDiversClub No, I haven´t! I was close to joining the first expedition in 2009 but couldn´t. I have an expedition vessel in the Baltic Sea, and we are operating within reach of this wreck, so we have ideas for going there.

Hi Oleg! thanks for the comment! Yes, there was a team from the boat that we used that made parts of the dives with us in OC. We used them a lot as models :) and of course they did shorter RTs. Also given that Helium is an expensive commodity over there they were not using much He. Funny enough I was waiting for someone to make that comment! :D
