Mine just won't trun on any more. How to check the fuse?

Mine had same problem; on the main power supply PCB there is a large 180uF electrolytic capacitor which had gone bad. I replaced it & she fired right up :) Worth checking it.

I still recommend the laser printer, monochrome or color, for printing business documents and files. I recommend the ink printer for printing creative art files. I own a Canon color laser printer and use it to print only on laser paper for near-typeset-quality results. My work appears professionally printed every time.
Supercool! Got one setup as a networkprinter and it even prints wireless from my phone! Dont think they had any clue about that back in 1997. 😁

At one time I was factory certified to fix these. I guess I still am, but it’s been probably 20 years….

Anybody have a video on how to install the optional automatic duplexer?

@@woodss82 Duplex print path test passed! How noisy is reasonable to expect for the duplexer? I have a "new" reconditioned 04/2022 duplexer and the fan, the motor, and the roller squeal is remarkable.

I have owned one of these work horse printers for almost 10 years. Best printer purchase ever. This video makes maintenance on these printers so much easier.

My elementary school used to have one of those! These look very similar to the HP LaserJet 2420 series printers, except bigger.

I owned one of those monsters! It was my first laser printer back in 1989 and came with a Letter tray (a couple years later I bought a Legal tray for the LJ III that slid in perfectly in the LJ II). I ended equipping mine with a small card with extra 2MB of RAM and a postscript cartridge "Pacific Page". It served me for over 10 years until I sell it still in perfect working conditions! Great machine! By the time I worked with DTP making books for a few Publishing companies in Rio where I lived then. My one was among the first ones in Brasil... when people still thought that you only could make DTP with a Mac and a Laserwriter II NT I was already happily earning money with this Laserjet and a PC-XT running early versions of Ventura and PageMaker! :)

They one of the best that HP ever built, despite of their low resolution, of 300DPI which can be compensated with super cell setting in the drivers, I have run this machine with Windows 10, and using a Jetdirect box to Ethernet connection to the network, or you can get a USB to Parallel to use on modern computers, as long your happy with 300DPI and purchase good quality toner why not keep using it it’s a reliable model it was based on the Canon SX engine, many laser printers were based on this engine in the late 1980s to early 90s, it’s a lot better than the Canon CX engine that the original laser printers were using from 1984. That LaserJet series II was manufactured in 1988, and it originally purchased by Esso.

3:25 you can now buy a 30ppm LaserJet the size of a bread bin for about £70 and now you have a £150 full colour LED (Xerox) about the same size; pretty impressive how the cost and size have totally shrunk
