If you made the vocal just more nasaly and snarled and like you were a lairy scally then it could almost be one of theirs You're singing like noel - stomping forward, bungling (no offence). Liam is like a lithe, agile, nasaly, swaggering, cocky, looking for a fight Zorro character. Accidentally articulate. Then some plodding alternating thumpa / shuffle drum for classic Oasis As someone else said, noel wrote (he claims) melody first and then fits chords to it. Kurt wrote the other way around - interesting power chords then added the words at the last moment. Noel's stuff does sound like he wrote chords first though even if he claimed otherwise Also yet more pontificating by me, Noel's lyrics aren't so much "about" things being good, they are about things "becoming" good, uplifting to something better, rather than already being better

Goid video. A cool progression technique I think that’s worth covering. Let’s say you had the progression C, Em, D. Take the 5th of that chord, and make it that chord but put the original chord as the bass note. So C, Em, D would become: G/C, Bm/E, A/D. Just adds extra spice

When strumming for fun, i've often gone from f minor to e minor but then that feels like i need to move to A minor and then come back to g major to resolve or go to D major and then G major to resolve. In effect i suppose I'm creating a bridge, but then to me those seem predictable, when I want to try for something different.
@DaveyHАй бұрын
Just tried this. That Fm to Em sounds like pure Halloween music to me haha. Brilliant change but a bit strange. Actually I have off-topic question. I try my best to formulate it. It's a bit silly. What's your take as a teacher, should students actively write down etudes, even tiny 1-2 bars, on a regular basis? Using the stuff they are learning. I had a lesson today and I learned this one bar economy picking excercise, understood that its A Minor 7h arpeggio on two strings. Later, I started messing around with it, and wrote three bars of...stuff, staying in key. Modifying it as I tried to play it faster, to be smoother. But what will happen if I do this daily? Write short motifs, etudes? What does the professors in music academies say about, what will happen?
@DaveyHАй бұрын
@@oldmanshreds hi mate. Interesting, I used to do this kind of thing a lot. It’s really good to learn etudes because they are exercises/pieces of music for learning/practicing specific techniques. But like me, it’s sounds like you are using them as a springboard to come up with your own things. I personally think it’s a great exercise in creativity to adapt and make your own. I can imagine professors at classical music establishments would insist on learning the etudes exactly with no deviation but I personally have a fondness for the creative elements of making stuff that you find cool. I suppose it depends on what your teacher intends, they might have a plan on where they want to take this specific thing. Thanks for watching pal 👍🏼🎸

I think I’m melodically challenged. At least with Rap verses one is liberated from the tyrany of melody. John Lennon once said , reguarding ‘ She said she said!, as it relates to melody , not lyrical genesis( you probably know about the Peter Fonda inspiration) that he nicked a popular tune of the time, knew he’d be sued and changed it.One step better than a legal steal even( there’s an idea!) Playing tune detective here, I think it was ‘ Georgie Girl’. Notice the opening 2 notes. One might be a fourth, the other song a 5th( can’t say for sure. (Flunked the David L. Burg relative pitch training course) Now compare the melodic rhythm/ cadence of the two. Near identical I’d say. Just some thoughts. Ta for your response. I really liked your song particularity the melody and arrangement. Nice build. I’d buy it… if I didn’t have tinnitus.😂

@@DaveyH Ta for your concern. It’s only mild and I plan to keep it that way. Industrial headphones when I go out. Glad yours is only mild too. As to Georgie Girl, I checked and it starts on a perfect 5th. ‘ She said she said’ is in Bb Mixolydian. It starts on the tonic and goes up to the Eb by the look of it. A perfect fourth. She said she said skips the 3 syllables of the Geor gie girl and goes straight to I know etc. 8 notes. Georgie girl is 9. The film anyway, came out the same yr as She said she said adding to the connection. To give you more feedbk on your song, I really noticed the production in the chorus I think it was. The sound itself is a hook. Reminds me of Gordon Lightfoots ‘ Sundown’ over the Title as it’s sung.Glorious. Can’t find that comical British bass player who does shorts. I've played a couple of gigs with different bands as a dep guitarist recently, and the amount of work involved was ridiculous, and not at all cost-effective! You'd think the band would email the song sheets over, with chords and lyrics, but of course neither band did, and I ended up having to pore over KZbin videos, and trawl Ultimate Guitar for chords (many of which are wrong). I also went to band rehearsals, which were essential. The thing is, having agreed to do the gig it would be wrong to back out, so you just get on and do it.
