Been at that landing many times over 40 yesrs. Rain on the north shore or Gunflint trail is a given. That bald eagle was waiting to be fed. If you fecide to feed the eagles. Get the camera rolling early. Otherwise you will mis the shot Sag is huge. There is aleays big waves somewhere. Voyaguer and seagul outfitters will haul you out to anywhere on the lake. No matter how big the wavrs are

Love your Alumacraft canoe! I have one too (QT-17CL) that I've used as my BWCA canoe of choice for 30 years now and it just works so well for me. I'm often looked down upon for "still" using an aluminum canoe when other, lighter, types are available. Yes, there is the weight thing but I have so many other positives that I get out of the aluminum canoe I already own that I don't see myself switching anytime soon, if ever. Fun to see someone else making an aluminum canoe work for them as well.

After many BWCA trips back in the 80's, I graduated to a camping hammock, tired of rocks, tree branches & rain water with a tent. Never had any luck or patience for a friction fire either. Went to the 3/8" farrell rod & happy with it.

I just started watching your video. I have been to Sag many times. Can't wait to see where you go. I picked up my phone to make the comment that we usually get rained on heading up the north shore. When I looked back up at the tv. It was raining. My brother always says the weather is different up there. My first trip there was June 1983. Had ice in the water bottle the first morning. No more bugs:) I see very high water at the launch. Invest 1200 dollars in a used wenonah Minnesota 3 ,three person canoe. Very fast and quiet and 20 lbs lighter then aluminum. Or get a wnenonah Seneca. Also a 3 person. Wider and more stable than the minn 3 but slower The eagle was waiting to be fed. We have fed a handful of eagles Next trip go about June 1st. Smallmouth are spawning right next to shore. Use a Rebel teeny pop R. Top water. Its a blast. Sleeping in the truck. Good call. We barely survived a tail wind across Sag 30 years ago. One trip we had 4 guys sleeping in a chevy vega. Sleeping in the truck story, you will never forget. Next year go to voyageur outfitters. Talk with Matt. They have cheap bunk houses to skeep in and in the morning a pancake breakfast and a shuttle service across the big water. More advice. Go into Canada through Cache bay across Silver Falls portage and into Saganagons. Stay there or keep going up the "Falls Chain" 7 portages into Kswnipi. That is the first place we ever fed an eagle. It followed us 3 miles to Cowa Bay. Before your next trip. Use a dremel drill to grind your barbs totally away. My brothers buddy got a crankbait hook buried in his thumb. He had to push it through ,cut it off and pull it back out. He was shaking, turning white and almost fainted. You won't lose many fish because of barbless. Nice stringer. But the big fish are females. Let them go to lay more eggs. Our last trip we picked up a tarp with built in bug net. I will try to find a link. Its a game changer for comfort.. Put the fish guts out on a distant rock for the seagulls. You know fishing will be good if they are biting with rod hanging over the gunnel. It won't be the last time that happens. Someday that 20 pounder will hit :) Get yourselves a Platypus 2 letter water filter system. Scoop water. Hang it in the tree . Come back 10 minutes later to fully filterd water. Topwater is about all my brother and I do up there. Sunrise until 10 am and 430pm until sunset. There are 13 different ways a fish can hit a topwater lure. If fish are spawning. Cast right next to shore. If you are not snaging the brush or a tree. You are not getting close enough. Cast, let it sit, twice it, let it sit some more. I have never seen the bottom of Silver Falls. Too steep to climb down.. Good job walking the camp site for litter. If you don't sleep well on an air mattress. Try a hammock. I recommend a Amok hammock. Expensive but extremely comfortable. Spend extra money on a well insulated air mattress. The only place I have seen a lady slipper is on a campsite with hardly any soil under it. Always wear your life jackets. In 40 years of trips. The one time we did not have jackets on. We flipped. Here is the screen tarp www.campsaver.com/eureka-nobugzone-ct13.html?_iv_code=155-TSS-OUHG23-2599470&gclid=CjwKCAiAxP2eBhBiEiwA5puhNQ0aQkagWaAWNOqiblZs00mrqbb_3k37hhAfw04GKMgPYo_eXdRCNBoCUHoQAvD_BwE Platypus water filter www.rei.com/product/866422/platypus-gravityworks-water-filter-system-4-liter?CAWELAID=120217890000856011&CAGPSPN=pla&CAAGID=112140771972&CATCI=pla-430923218858&cm_mmc=PLA_Google%7C21700000001700551_8664220001%7C92700056591720762%7CNB%7C71700000066832372&gclid=CjwKCAiAxP2eBhBiEiwA5puhNfhNSss5oR4-4BIaZSWl6f108Pc2U4HzY_SegNun5sryXnYaaVaIHBoCod8QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds The last 10 years I have been in 3 sever storms around June 1st. The previous 30 years. Zero severe storms. Don't be a climate denier. There is no better pancake mix then Krusteaz. Also pick up some powdered buttermilk. Yummy Water is too cold for me. Next time up the Gunflint trail. Stop at the Center of the Trail restaurant and try the three pancake challenge. Free if you can eat it all. Only a few have cometed the challenge. I forced my self to eat half.. I am impressed with the quality of pancakes made over a fire. Quetico is more expensive. But no boats and far less people. Big walleyes can be picked up by sliding your hand under there belly. For some reason the usually stay calm. Another adventure besides Cache bay and silver falls, Saganagons . Is traveling to Crane Lake. Have Anderson Outfitters take you on a 2.5 hour high speed boat ride to the West end of the Boundary Waters. Lac LA Croix. Iron Lake to Curtain falls and Crooked lake. Don't get a speeding ticket in the first tiny town heading back south after exiting the trip. Thanks for bringing back memories

@@ErraticExcursionthe 4 guys on that trip did a good job on the video. Which is a lot of work. They didn't screw around. Picked up after themselves. I would have given them some fishing spots. But they never replied back I am turning 60. My brother 63. He hates portaging. So we wont get to our favorite spots very often the next ten years. We only have gone up there early June. Summers get to hot and the horse flies and deer flies get bad. Also the flies that look like regular house flies like to hide in the bottom of the canoe, out of the wind and bite the ankles

@@golfish8589 Yes, both the video and the food were done well. We normally use the Eureka No Bug Zone to hide from the bugs. However, But on our most recent trip, we did come across the flies you're referring to, and they caught us off guard. They were also really obnoxious. We normally avoid the bug season by making the trip in early May or August onwards. We wish you and your brother many more journeys. If we ever visit the BWCA, I'll get in touch with you.

After seeing some of the nit picky comments I have to compliment y'all. No body expects you to risk your lives crossing Sag with white caps. No ranger would care if you waited a day. You didn't disrespect any fish. You ate the ones you kept and released the rest unharmed. The wheels on the cooler were not used, no harm no foul. The music was awesome, the videography was beautiful. Y'all had a blast and so did we watching it. Pay no attention to the sissys with their panties in a wad. The only thing I'd do differently is I'd leave the fish parts on a rock on an island without a campsite and watch the Eagles and Otters have a feast.
