30 years i still refused to believe it then a few nights ago ...he had a breakthrough . He was being insightful and understanding and then.. the light in his eyes (or as i imagined) dimmed and he started accusing me of some ridiculous things and went on and on like a parrot he used my words but be wasnt using them correctly and he was filled with contempt and blame over imaginary issues.. it was unreal. So as a person who is now educated in psychology and has spent 30 years hyper focused on the healing of this man. Even if they want to change, their narcissistic programming will kick in and reboot them because they cannot be insightful when there is nothing inside of them to see.

I knew a narcissist like this. He was dating my friend and always talked shit to us about how we were failing. Our writing skills were shit. Our art was shit. Everything we did with this guy was shit. Except the things he wanted to do. But then he’d turn around and complain about his parents abusing him, how he couldn’t find a job, how nobody liked him… His parents were not abusive. His parents were trying to get him to go to college so he could inherit their medical company (that kept them living comfortably in california, might i add). He was never attempting to get a job because he spent 23 hours a day playing video games. Needless to say, when I check on him, he’s in the exact same place. Still making other people feel terrible, despite being a fucking loser.

Narcs love being confronted so they can roll around in their joy and pleasure in gaslighting you and watching you explain and hope for the truth and resolution. What narcs really get mad about is when you don’t confront them and go no contact bc you won’t play their evil useless games.
