Tom's final words about the heroes of 9-11 and how we should live our lives now were very beautiful and inspiring! The saxophone really stood out when Bobby and Elaine were dancing. It sounded so smooth!

Now that I'm my parents' retirement age I can appreciate how they enjoyed these artists. Quite the treat to be able to relive these times. Thanks for posting.

I loved these Christmas specials when I was growing up and I still do. Christmas should be like this for everyone all over the world. If I could I would make sure it was that way for everyone. Merry Christmas everyone.🎄🎀🎄🎀🎄🎀🎄🎀🎄🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁

Norma's version of "Ave Maria" was a standout, even though I've always preferred Franz Schubert's.

I think the purest and greatest singers on Lawrence Welk were Guy and Ralna. Oh, and not to forget, Tom Netherton. Tom was born too late. With his voice, looks, and stature, he could have been a star decades before.

The saddest part of this special was the tremendous rendition of "Let There Be Peace on Earth" by Guy and Ralna, knowing that they had already separated. But, over the last 40 years, they have remained friends, and even occasional singing partners. Ralna, at this time, had endured many years years of personal and mental difficulties, including post partum depression. But, she is an example of strength and courage, and an inspiration to many, so many, who struggle with mental disorders, which has become so relevant and rampant, but finally more understood, in society today.

Lawrence outlasted a lot of rock bands that took music to a new, maybe not better, way, just different. But, the difference is, most bands, or vocalists, nowadays, are unable to perform the traditional, or 20th century, Christmas songs, lacking the melodic timbre or harmonics. Yes, many things are better in the world, 40 years after this show was aired. The internet, KZbin, and the ability to watch this, and even more classic Christmas specials from Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Andy Williams, Perry Como, and so many others. But, the feeling has changed, due to diminishing great talents, and the overall negativity that has increasingly ensued over the past 60 years. People have lost touch with the magic of Christmas, and so much else. It truly has been the "Me Generation" for decades of generations now, KZbinrs, and a worldwide Karaoke lacking in talent, and laced with so much sarcasm and cynicism.

(The chorus, stand in front of a fence, in a field, as "Adios, Au Revoir, Auf Wiedersehen" begins) Chorus: (singing) Good Night, Sleep Tight/and pleasant dreams to you!/ Here's a wish/And a prayer/That every dream comes true!/And now, 'til we meet again,/Adios, Au Revoir, Auf Wiedersehen!/Good Night! (Applause, as we dissolve to Lawrence Welk, with his orchestra on the other side of the stage) Lawrence Welk: We've just run out of time, friends! We hoped you had fun! Please join us next week...for a salute to the late Richard Rogers! Keep a song in your heart, have a wonderful week, and right now, little Mary Lou, how about our usual dance, together! (Mary Lou Metzger, chuckling, comes on to dance with Lawrence, as the credits roll)

Yes Welk demanded 110.5 % So that's why he fired Alice lon for showing knees and Cissy for tardeness leaving Bobby without a dance partener ... and yes he fired Nevins for lateness ... I guess sometimes woke jerks make good shows ...
