Drilling direct to side bar is a match faster to enable the core to slide out... drilling the sheer line, putting the tailpiece at risk, not being able to reuse the core.

Really?!! Very useless video. I lost my key so how could I take the lock out and keep on hitting it to get the debris and cylinders out. If that was the case I wouldn't need to...

Didn’t think about shimming the cylinder from the front. But you can also shim the shackle and comb pick this lock. 1) Single pin pick 2) Rake 3) knife 4)Shim Cylinder 5)Comb pick 6) Shim shackle 7) Hammer rap ?

Great video! I think that 'foreign object' was actually not something that someone jammed in, but rather an intentional security feature from Arrow's 'Flex ChoICe line'. This platform had keys with a hole in the bottom of the key that would run all the way from tip to bow. The idea was similar to Ruko's flexcore system.

Anyone can butcher a lock when it's in a vise. A qualified locksmith working on a lock installed on a customers door would never do what you just displayed. Please, if you are working as a locksmith, get more training and learn better technique. "Training videos like this give professional locksmiths a bad name. I have been a locksmith for 45 years and am proud to say those of us who are truly invested in the trade don't approve of these vidios. There are scammers a plenty out there that think that a drill and a screwdriver makes them a pro.

Ok so if you had a locked up door with a core like that and the customer had no keys at all... controll key or otherwise... What would you do...? Please. I am willing to learn if you are willing to teach. Thnx

First the drill bit is too large, never go above 5/32" second you are nowhere near the shear line. This is NOT the way to drill any cylinder at all. I have been a locksmith for 39 years and am always horrified not only seeing things like this but more by the comments encouraging it.

I love how you have pins falling out, I just did a Schlage LFIC and the bottom of the core fell out. The top is stuck in there, so I need to stick my bore CAM in there tomorrow to try and get it out.

@mlentsch
@mlentsch 4 жыл бұрын
@FalconerPhoto No, but they're mainly used for businesses and they're fairly expensive, so I'd assumed that the faceplates were hardened steel on sfics.... I guess not. They should be. Everything even semi-serious should have drill protection.

LOL, I sure could have used this video six years ago, back when I was thrown into my job, which includes removing these cores sometimes. Two hours and still destroyed the cylinder trying to figure out the first one. Nowadays, 30 seconds start to finish, including installation of a replacement core.
@FCBtri

Used to drill these out all the time working for best locks. Drill the pins out, the front face with the name can come off too. Just just a decent size flat head screw driver and it will move the side bar over and you can pop the core out

I'm still a greenhorn in locksport. Well, maybe a tenderfoot at this point. I have a bench, nice vice, lots of picks/tools, locks, and getting daily practice. I got a Master 6125 and haven't tried to pick it yet. Which pick were you using on this video? Short hook? Was it in 18/000? It looks like a plain jane stainless short hook. No handle, etc.

Hahaha yep I think I told you I had to soak mine for two days before I could get it to pop open. It was pinned up the same. But I thought that was an anti bump pin. All the US 5200's only come with a 5 pin crimpt core. I filed mine flat in the back and put a clip on it I hate crimpt cores. And I've talked about options and it's good to jave them with plug followers too. I have the same set you jave but they can be tight in some cores. The followers that come in the HUK are just a bit smaller and they fit much better in the tight cores. I also think it was the M11 I tried that fit the keyway. Any good job buddy I know it was a tough one. ☺

I have been meaning to machine down some smaller followers but i keep forgetting. I did notice later that the body of the lock is not deep enough to fit the 6 pin american core. So i just keyed it for the existing core for now.Thanks for the lock and thanks for watching.
