What it's meant to represent (or what I believe it's meant to represent) is that CryBaby stated her feelings for the boy in the music video, and when the boy rejects her, she starts 'choking on her words'. The the bar of soap in that picture is meant to represent the fact that she feels as though she shouldn't have said what she said, and has to wash her mouth with soap for saying it. Eluding to the fact that back in the day, if you said something you werent supposed to, your parents or whoever, would LITERALLY wash your mouth with soap. She’s saying “what makes me the authority on such a monumental topic”? When every influencer is a political expert, why go further than funny tik tok videos to get caught up on what’s going on in the world? Or should we maybe save that for people more qualified?

Yeah… umm… no… the point of a movie is not to make political statements unless it is a *political documentary* or something in a similar genre. So, let’s stop hating on people just because they point out that it is harder to believe a story because of inaccurate cultural references. Braided hair is not exclusive to ANY culture as far as I can tell and is an entirely tangential argument. If people are going to be making a movie to tell a story, the point is to be believable (get the audience to invest belief and emotion into the story and connect with or care about the characters). Fail to do that and the film *will* flop. We’ve seen that with so many films recently because they are way too focused on making political statements, unsurprisingly most of them are remakes or sequels/prequels. A good director will attempt to get the audience to find their film believable within the bounds of the world being created by the film’s plot. That being said, this is fiction based on a *real world* culture or civilization. There weren’t “black Vikings” in our real world history. That doesn’t mean that this can’t work in a film, it just means the film is harder to believe. This also doesn’t mean that the original film was racist, because they weren’t making a political statement, they were telling a story. The problem, in my opinion, isn’t so much that Astrid is being played by a black actress, the problem is they are re-making a film that didn’t need to be remade in a different medium. The story was told and it was great, it was believable and the characters weren’t asking their audience to believe that Vikings were African. The original film just expected us to believe that dragons from viking legend weren’t just legends. There was nothing wrong with the animated version and if you aren’t going to change the story, plot or screenplay, there is no real reason to make or watch the new one. From everything I have seen, this will follow the original story very closely, so again, why not watch the original?
