Does tree fern hold more moisture than moss?

@@pauladixon-williams3246 My experience is it doesn’t stay wet as long as moss. It works better inside for me. Moss inside tends to stay wet too long this is also an experiment I grow everything outside haven’t grown stuff inside for a while. But both tree fern and moss hold a lot of moisture. What a great shallow hole pot for potting up that larger division of your cattleya. An excellent positioning job with the lava rock and it is very well secured. The minor division is placed very firm in the terracotta pot and staked for good growing and observing that the roots took hold of the pot. I just had repotted an orchid using mesh, and seeing your struggle with the mesh sure taught me a lesson. Taking it out of the mesh tomorrow! Rabbit hole indeed. But it’s fun. 😀 Good video.

@@beckyjames4072 Yes the boys are always watching they are a lot of work but well worth it 🤗. Yes I will work on the repotting video. Also if you’re growing outside you can grow Phals in lava rock it just depends on how much you want to water. I grow most of my orchids in lava rock / charcoal or mounted but saying that most of my phals are in moss / tree fern and I don’t think I have any in lava rock. Thanks for watching and commenting 🤗

I concur Justine, I find that no matter what politics orchid-people are affiliated with we can all come together and be nice. I am a member of two very different orchid societies and they each have lovely members who share and care for one another and especially so willing to help identify a plant, give advice and especially enjoy one another's collections. I'm glad to see you and your family get away for a vacation. Showing your sons parts of someone else's huge home or castle as it were is important to rounding their experiences. Respectfully,

Should definitely check out the high elevation house next time! It's one of the best in the states and you will see so many orchid varieties.
