Great amplifier. Can you recommend me one or 2 tube amplifiers different brand 100W, I have a separate cabinet 4x12 inch speakers 8 ohm and I want a very good tube amplifier 100W.

We’ll I’m loving my Orange Super Crush 100 but that’s solid state. You could go with a Rockerverb if you wanted tube. I think a modern JCM 800 would kick butt. That’s tube. Now if your looking for something more budget conscious you could look at Blackstar. I’ve never played one but I’ve heard great things about the more recent ones. I think the Peavey 6505s are pretty affordable and I’d love to have one of them. That’s all I got but I hope this helps.

I'm a tube amp purest at heart, I purchased a Boss Nextone Special because everyone was ranting about how close it came to tube amps. My experience is that isn't even remotely true, it's a decent solid state amp but can't hold a candle to a good tube amp.

I got one four years ago, from Sweetwater. Came set up great, and it has the coil splitting which honestly I don’t use much. All the hardware is fine, I haven’t replaced a thing. This is my favorite axe of all.

LoL, you did the same exact thing I did, I just bought the streamliner hollow body and love the way it plays but not crazy about the broad Tron pickups and didn't realize it was just like another humbucker sounding guitar untill I played it at home for a while. I'm going tomorrow to trade up to either the EM 5420t or the 5427t so I can get that classic twang. Yours sounds beautiful.

What gauge strings are you using? I just got one of these and put 09s on it and they’re soooo bendy, play a chord too hard and the intonation goes out! I am wondering if 10s or even maybe 11s would be a better fit…

Honestly for the way I’m using them I see very little difference. Ua doesn’t offer a jcm 800 or rectifier so I guess I can justify that way. To me through the power amp they sound very close to the real amps so I don’t see much reason to need anything else.

A large part of the amp disappearing/getting smaller too is the fact most kids are just sitting in their rooms recording instead of playing out. It was very revealing to me when I started looking online for used equipment to get back to analog gear. I wanted a 2x12 for my head but they were a bit scarce and ridiculously priced. However, 4x12 cabs were everywhere and under $200! Marshall 4x12 were a dime a dozen used, but looked forever for a half decent 2x12 that was in my price range.

@efxloopjaybyrne Ай бұрын
Hey thanks for the comment and support. I replied to your comment on my Sept 20th episode of the podcast towards the end. However, to sum it up for you. I firmly believe that the boomyness comes from the speaker and the cabinet. The speaker is quite bassy and the mdf cab can get get woofy and bassy. Put the 2 together and that's what you get. You can mess with the contour knob on the front. That helps a bit. You can also use an outboard drive pedal like a Boss SD1 to cut the bass but keep the oompf. Unfortunately this is kind of the only way to tame it. You could try another cabinet and speaker if you have that option but I know that involves more money. Anyway I go deeper into this on the podcast so if your so inclined you could check that out. Thanks again.

You said that the amp wants volume. How much are we talking about? I'd be comfortable playing it between 75-85 db but not 90-100.
@efxloopjaybyrne
@efxloopjaybyrne Ай бұрын
If your playing clean you can play at low comfortable volumes. If you want edge of breakup or gain you can get it just above louder tv volume with the attenuator at its lowest position. But you sacrifice sound quality. The amp with gain of any kind doesn’t sound great unless it’s pushing some air. In those cases it can creep up around 90 or so db.

Would you recommend pairing it with a volume attenuator pedal like JHS little black amp box or boss tube amp expander?
@efxloopjaybyrne
@efxloopjaybyrne Ай бұрын
Definitely don’t need the tube expander. Actually I don’t think it would work for that. Now that I think about it there’s no effects loop so I don’t think the little black box would work either. With the attenuator on the back you can get the deluxe pretty low. You lose sound quality a bit but just to mess around and practice it would be fine. You could plug it into your daw and use studio monitors for a more silent practice. Hell you could use headphones with it that way.

In the folder for the one that doesn’t work delete info file. I think it’s a .txt file. On one of the ones that work copy that text file to the folder to replace the one that didn’t work. If this makes sense try it out. If you watch my video I show the folder structure if you need a refresher. You could also check that your file name doesn’t contain any characters other than words or numbers. It’s picky with file names.

I love this video. It's super cool and authentic that she's in there too and you just kept rolling. We are one of the many artist that went the Roland SPDX route to load simply backing tracks. We're a duo and while we do switch off playing various instruments on stage, we needed a way to trigger drums and back up vocals and bass and pretty much the meat and potatoes of the song while we embellish the performance on top. So ya, we took the time to learn the spdx, however, after seeing this video, this is what we're going to switch to. Especially cause it can be used as a pedal to kick with the foot. The SPDX you need an external trigger pedal to launch the backing tracks otherwise ya gotta have it up and mounted and tap or hit it with a stick. Definitely designed for drummers who are behind the kit and are running the click throughout the set and such. Anywho, long message, just wanted to write and say rock on for making this and never stop creating music. :) Cheers ~ The Parker Story
@efxloopjaybyrne
@efxloopjaybyrne 2 ай бұрын
Thanks man. I really love how simple this thing is plus you can tap it with your foot to trigger which is really convenient. I didn’t realize you needed drum triggers for the bigger unit. I though it has the trigger pads on it. Interesting. The big boy is just way more than I need and like I was saying I guess that’s why Roland made these so simple.
@theparkerstory9637
@theparkerstory9637 2 ай бұрын
@@efxloopjaybyrne well the pads do trigger it but we want to be able to just hit it with our feet instead of up high on a stand. So you need an external foot switch to do that. But we’re gonna switch and get the Wav Pad for sure! 👍

The reason that it sounds muddy on the lowest power setting is because your not driving the speaker at its optimal level. A 10 inch speaker would tighten up the lower volume fidelity! I’ve found that a modest tweak up on the treble helps.
