Talk about waisting your "Main Line" Hunter tie your loop just above the top dropper loop! This not only saves line, but when you reel in... you will stop smacking your top tip Guide with your swivel because you have 3 feet of leader before your top hook, and you WILL do this, just to get the weight out of the water! Short leaders, are much better!

@@bobowhite11 I don’t reel close to the top guide, check out my perch fishing videos on my channel. 3 hooks total, roughly 12in between each hook, rig is roughly 36-48in I swing the perch in, to each their own though, tie it however you would like Tight lines and get some jumbos 🤟🏻

Hunter, could you do some of us a favor? I am 73 years old and I just bought my first boat, a 2,000, 23 ft. walkaround to be able to perch and walleye fish on Lake Erie. You have a very unique setup that I would like to try. I am having a difficult time following all of the steps. I know you are a very busy guy, but if you could find time to reproduce the video with a little better lighting and slow your process down of tying the different knots at different parts of the setup, it would be very helpful. I am like a kindergartner trying tie knots I have never used before, that you as a professional have been doing effortlessly for years. Thanks for considering my request.

I tied that exact same rig (the first one) with floro carbon and I add a snap at the bottom so I can change weight quickly. You right, I think I catch more than people using spreader.

I am an old guy that fishes perch a lot. He is right on with his rigs. Experiment a little with fluorocarbon, lighter line. Rod and reel combo is right on. Sometimes bites are very light and they can be the bigger fish. Very good basic setups. Experiment and go fishin!

I'm sorry to say but (for me), trying to watch this on a Laptop PC is very difficult. Perhaps you could move the camera a little closer? Otherwise good info is offered.

Your buddy is an idiot. 90% of the poeple watching this would need to catch a plane to go to that fish spot and im pretty sure its not that classified of a location if its on that paticular lake. Be like me trying to personally lay claim to a part of lake texoma. Notbody cares about your paranoid wanta be fisherman delusions. Jesus fucking christ man.

Perch are very fussy and finicky always. Even in reservoirs. Hard to detect the bites. I have best luck keeping my bait moving so they have to chase and inhale it.

Perch can be very picky at times on Lake Erie. Sometimes a single hook below the sinker works best. Sometimes when they are hitting great it does not matter when they turn on they turn on & you can have a huge run were you can only use one pole & that is it. I personally like the flys on the hook rig & the ones with red beads. I have not used a spreader in many years. We have a 50 per person limit in Michigan.
@huntersoutdooradventures61096 жыл бұрын
Cool. We use the 3 hooks and 2 rods a person because you never know where in the water column the perch are going to be hitting that day. The 2 rods help keep bait in the water and keeps the perch in the area. We have had many times catching perch on one rod and let the other rod stay down there until we get both rods down to the bottom. The more bait in the water faster keeps the school active and interested longer. Some days the one hook will work okay, but on most trips these rigs work the best for us. I have used beads before, but when you get junk fish...... they just make a mess of the rig. Thanks for commenting :)

Do you fish on shore for perch if so were at. Thanks
@huntersoutdooradventures61096 жыл бұрын
We have a smaller boat and on days its not rough on Lake Erie, we go out for perch or walleye. On days it is rough, good spots to try form shore are piers. Huron pier, Catawba pier, Battery Park has some good piers, Jackson street pier, Lakeside, Marblehead Lighthouse are all good choices from shore for Lake Erie Perch in Ohio.

Where is this? Private or public?
@huntersoutdooradventures61096 жыл бұрын
It is private land. You can find good places for doves by doing some scouting. I have been shooting a couple this year so far. The best part of the season is to come. They will come in the last 30 minutes and be in groups of 5-15. About 3-5 weeks yet until it gets really good. Then deer season will be here, and I won't focus much on doves until I get a deer.

What kind of rigs you guys using ?
@huntersoutdooradventures61096 жыл бұрын
We were using homemade perch rigs (similar to a crappie rig). All of them have 3 hooks and a bell or slip sinker. If you want I can make a video on how to make them soon. Let me know. They are very easy to make and take little time. We caught the walleye long lining on a crankbait.

Hunter's Outdoor Adventures please make a video on how to make the rigs. I walleye fish a lot and need a change of pace much appreciated!
@huntersoutdooradventures61096 жыл бұрын
I just uploaded a video on how I make my perch rigs. I hope it helps you and many others. It is a little long, but I wanted people to understand how to make both types of rigs. I tried to explain it the best I could. I hope it helps people to save money and to catch more perch. At the end of the day that is the main goal. Tight Lines.

Thanks man. Looking forward to seeing your video. We fish Lake Erie when we can get out because our boat is an 18ft Lowe. We normally don't get out to the islands very much because Erie storms can pop up fast.
