Celia Humphris : Tell me about the first album, "The Garden of Jane Delawney", who composed the music and lyrics? All the original music was composed by Bias at that time. The folk songs were sourced mainly by David often with the help of Martin Carthy. I think "On the Shore" is one of the best electrified folk albums ever, here the long improvisations you took some space but with three guitarists (so unusual for a folk rock band) was almost natural. As a singer do you feel limited somehow? Live parts enlarged even further? Thank you. Yes, I just stood back and let them get on with it, I loved listening to them. I was limited by the contraints of my own voice, it’s not a strong voice and I was unable to contribute as much as I’d have liked. Yes, during live performances they played even longer guitar breaks while I danced and swayed. Sometimes I laid down, once I even fell asleep! Tell me about the beautiful cover? It was chosen by you? It has some emotional bond with someone you know? The legendry Storm Thorgessen of Hypgnosis was commissioned for the cover. He conceived the whole thing. The girl was the daughter of Tony Meehan (ex drummer with Cliff Richard’s Shadows), we didn’t know her. Is there a particular song (or more) of Trees you especially love? Sally Free and Easy, Snail’s Lament and The garden of Jane Delawney.

The first song is sadly relatable, although I think it won't be someday soon. The second song is so loving that I'm compelled to reciprocate. Her voice has the same effect the slow yet steady lapping of waves over the rocks on a beach has; sobering yet comforting. It's good for creating stillness, very meditative. The art of the dog solidifies these effects. The dog looks like it's looking straight into your soul, cutting through the mental clutter so to reach clarity. It's a knowing, yet gentle, look. ❤ Beautiful

In times like this, I remind myself that I have it all now, more than I ever lost. And thus I keep walking the walk.

Her voice remembers me of my mom's, when I was a little kitd she'd sing to me as we cuddled. I miss that

Am l the only one that thinks the chorus here is the voices of drowned long dead sailors wishing the sailor and the lovers well ? It reminds me of The Tempest.

Beautiful tune by one of the greatest guitarists of his generation! My grandson’s name is Max, and this is a tune he’s heard a number of times in his almost 7 years. Very touching tune. Bert’s guitar playing is timeless! Rest in Peace.

✨🙏💜🕊🌿🌸✨ Vashti Bunyan - Just Another Diamond Day ✨🙏💜🕊🌿🌸✨ Bought an album of hers for myself & also one for Wanda, a now 86 years old Philosophy Prof in Italy, a few years ago already for Xmas! If I had become a singer ( as my grand-mother thought I could have) I would have loved to sing like HER or like Astrud Gilberto✨🙏💜🕊🌿🌸✨ Vashti is a calm breeze in our dark world...heavenly soothing voice... ✨🙏💜🕊🌿🌸✨

Just discovered this song and band, after thirty years of knowing bands like Fairport. Too bad they did not make a third album; it could have been the catch, just like Forever Changes and Arthur Lee, their third and best. Anyway, they captured some magic on their two gems. The singer, Ms. Humphreys, is magnificent.

Hello, my name is Lucas, I speak from a city in Brazil called Porto Alegre... This year "2024", Porto Alegre suffered a severe flood, we had almost 100% of our state flooded. When I heard JG Bennett's speech at the beginning of the song, I got goosebumps... after these years we experienced a flood that practically devastated our city and our families. Look for photos and videos about what happened... search for information about what happened to our city and you will see that this "prophetic" speech and the song really give you goosebumps.
