So this has turned into a mud flinging contest, but he has made some points. I've watched your videos, his video, SOFs videos, and even the wired tight podcast where they explained their product. I've been interested in buying one, but I haven't pulled the trigger on one yet. As a customer I want speed and accuracy, combined with reliability. From what I've seen watching everyone else use this, knowing the holdover/Kentucky windage/aligning the reference marks for accurate hits at range is a lot of guesswork since as you mentioned there are no hard lines yet. I believe you and your wife were both impacting low at first, while learning the system. Five outer dots and a post with a fiber dot seems to lead to more of a variable than lining up iron sights, "equal height equal light". The main factors that make me want to try it, no glass to break, collect debris, or fog up. no battery to die or have to turn on. Also a sidenote the "diamond of death" marketing is not going to sound great when dramatically read by a prosecutor, but they'll grasp at any straw they can.
@TAC71923 сағат бұрын
Great analysis! And too right about the “diamond of death” designation when it comes to self defense cases.
@dz-2147 сағат бұрын
@turdferguson2863 I agree with your assessment of the AIM sight. However, the idea of giving up the ability to hit consistently and fast because there is no glass in the AIM to break, fog up, or collect debris seems to me to be antithetical to the the reasons to carry a gun in the first place. In WA, officers who carry a dot are taught basic aiming schemes to mitigate something like those circumstances, like aiming down the corner of the slide or the optic window as a whole, superimposed on the body. These are just two ways to mitigate the fog, debris, or broken circumstance. To mitigate those circumstances before they happen, at the expense of speed and accuracy, is the opposite of preparedness, its foolishness. If a dot breaks, then revert to a larger, less precise aiming scheme, not adopt a larger, less precise aiming scheme because you potentially might have to. Do the majority of OISs or defensive firearms encounters happen with functioning equipment or broken equipment? Optimize, then strategize. Not the other way around.
@TAC7196 сағат бұрын
Your analogy is misplaced. Why carry something that could break when you could carry something comparable that wouldn’t break? How many law-enforcement officers do you know that trained aimed down the corner of the red dot that’s just ridiculous. There’s hardly any officer that trains that way on a consistent basis, if any. Moreover, to train that way is to train muscle memory that shouldn’t be there. The majority of engagements happen within 3 to 4 yards and that statistic is well documented for law-enforcement officer engagements and also for self-defense incidences. Finally, as I have repeatedly mentioned, it will boil down to level of training not the optic of choice. The optic may help, but very little if any. In one of my videos, part two I believe, I meet the NRA standard for CCW Instructor and I even pulled one. That was at 45 feet (15yards) so it’s possible to be as good as a red dot with the AIM as long as you put in the work and your front sight doesn’t fall off of course. For police officers, security guards, and military personnel who open carry there is almost zero reason to have a red dot on their pistol. They should stick with regular irons or try this Advanced Ironsight Module (AIM) out.
@dz-2145 сағат бұрын
@TAC719 dude, that's just delusional. The NRA standard is garbage, it's not respected in LE, competition, or anywhere. You're right it does boul down to training. And the more you train with better equipment, the more you overshadow lesser equipment. The best shooters in the world are around 10 to 15% better with a dot. This iron sight talk is just nonsense, the AIM talk is sacrilegious. I have seen the dot make shooters who can barely qual, nearly shoot a perfect score from being handed a dot gun and 8 hours training. This idea that there is no use for a dot is exposing your lack of experience. Put in the work, and you'll be able to shoot better than 13 points down at 10 yards. As I said before, instead of just saying it, do it. Shoot the 5x5 at not even a master level, just expert with that thing show us it's possible, don't just say it. Prove me wrong. I don't think you can do it.
@dz-2143 сағат бұрын
@TAC719 and on the video you made of me, you said the AIM wasn't as good as a dot? What in your evaluation changed in a day or so? At least remain consistent. You from one day ago knew better.
@Platoon_GuideКүн бұрын
This product is definitely interesting. The price point is high for me but I think I’m going to save up monthly and buy it. The majority of my shooting is 25 yards and in, indoors, and often low light. If I can deliver 5 to 6 hits at the same speed of a red dot at 7 to 25 yards with this, I will be happy.
@dz-214Күн бұрын
Hey Brother! I'm flattered! Thanks for taking the time to put this together! I won't lie though I'm a little miffed you made a rebuttal video and did no shooting. Don't tell me it works show me. Your other videos on it were certainly not convincing. I don't really know where to begin, you guys have been a lot today. It's totally fine if you didn't like the review. And I'm happy to hear you admit the sight isn't as good as a red dot. Does SOF know you said that? Cause that's not what they say. Well, I guess they know now. I'm also happy to hear you're going to go shoot IDPA. Competition makes shooters better, and IDPA is a damn good time. Please don't write off the following paragraphs as just me being a dick, you made the video, you called me out, and turn around is fair play. Would you agree? It seems like you don't have a good understanding of shooting at speed. I'm no shooting god, but I think I'm a little further on down the road than you are. I watched your 3 part review, and your evaluation with group shooting at 4 yards, slow fire, is pretty meaningless and unconvincing. And even the further stuff you did was all slow fire and also unconvincing. I know me not liking this thing really peed in your Wheaties, but in the last 5x5, where you accuse me of purposefully shooting out of the zero, the gun does seem to return slightly differently, but shooting at speed, I know how much play I have in the sight picture to hit zeros with iron sights at ten yards. I've shot this drill quite a bit. You can believe whatever you'd like, but I shot this sight the same way I would a dot or an iron sight. I have no interest in purposefully missing. As far as your plate rack comment, I don't really know what you're talking about. I shoot a plate rack the same as anything else. Yes, I'm left-handed and go left to right, then if something is left standing. I shoot that. I don't know what else to say about that? Your acronym is cool, and I don't disagree with it. I dont find it all that necessary, but it's not wrong. I said I see the plate in the rear appeture and the green of the FS on the plate and squeeze it off. The same as I would with real irons or a dot. There's seems to be some complicated hold for this thing that was neither articulated by you or SOF on any of your media. It sort of seems like you guys are making it up as you go along. And that makes it worse, not better. Also, if holding the top of the center line and holding at the center line makes a difference between a hit or several inches low, that's also a detractor from the product, not a boone. The issue is that with this product, the zero is floating in space with little to no reference for the shooter at speed. Sure, you can slow fire and line it up, you can take all the time in the world to find it again. Dots and irons don't share that issue. And "out there on the streetz" officers or concealed carriers are behind the curve. There's no room for anything less than the limit of human function. This sight doesn't allow for that, so it isn't a viable option for either. And we've already established it's not good for competition. The reality is, there's no difference in competition and tactical shooting. It's all just shooting. I have no beef with SOF. Our communication was quite civil until the whole deleted comment thing. I did not delete any of the comments from either you or them. I have no desire to see them fail, I have a desire for the truth. I believe if it can be destroyed by the truth, it deserves to be destroyed by the truth. We can argue about how it works or whether it works, but it's just not true that I shot off the zero to get at them, its silly to think so. So your contention is that I was so upset by the thumbing the slide thing, which I agreed weeks ago was a thing that's possible, and then said again in my video, I was wrong about, that I was so mad I spent 200 dollars of my money, refused their offer of ammo and a front sight, and refused their refund, just to purposefully tank a review to get at the SOF guys? And I recruited others to shoot it poorly for my bad review? Come on man, that's a little delusional. The thumbing the slide thing is dumb, and I know tactical guys love shit like that. But it really is about the least necessary technique I've come across in my 12 years on the job. I wouldn't teach it to my guys. I teach them to shoot. Hard skills on demand beat strange tactics every time, and too often, the unskilled drift into tactical land rather than put in the work. I hope that's not you. You referenced you and your wife shooting this thing and liking it. I saw that video. You both shot super slow and close. I'm sure if I lined it up and shot slow, especially now as I am more acquainted with it, I could shoot it just as you did. You had the opportunity to show us your target when you were shooting moderately fast in your second video, and you didn't. Why not Dave? You showed all your slow fire groups? The fact is most of your stuff is you talking and not shooting, or showing incredibly easy shooting tasks like walking laterally, setting up, and shooting 3 yards. It's part of the business, I get it. Another part is performance on demand. Instructing is explain, demonstrate, imitate, you've got the explain part down pretty well. You made your video and called me out, Dave, so now I'm gonna come at you a little bit. Your last 5x5 was in 2023, and you shot slower overall than I did with the AIM thing, but you had normal irons sights and a stock service pistol. 19.92 down 13 for a total score of 32:92 at 10 yards and an 8 inch down zero target scoring zone. So earlier, when I said you don't have the skill level to evaluate this, that's what I was talking about. And I have seen nothing from you, either on your channel or elsewhere, that would lead me to believe otherwise. So let's see it. I put all my stuff out there. My name is Joe Bawden A178788. By all means, go check me out. Really think about this next question, isn't it a little ironic that all my videos are me shooting and yours are mostly you talking about shooting, not showing targets, or shooting super close, then you call me out as disingenuous? I'm not knocking group shooting. It's just not all that there is. It's the most basic, the baseline. No one cares about little groups at close distances. Show me something real. I know you think I'm just being sarcastic, but I'm not, I have really enjoyed our conversation, and it would be great to train together someday. I get around a lot for work, and my home station in the AF reserve is right there in the Springs. Maybe next time I'm around, we can go sling some lead and get a little of that performance on demand thing going. Take care bud, sorry this was so long, and thanks again for your video and thoughts.
@TAC719Күн бұрын
That was quite long. You are focused on speed and I am focused on precision. See you are wanting to go as fast as possible, while I tend to want to be as precise as possible. There is 100% a difference between tactical and competition. This sight may not be good for comp as I had mentioned, and that's why I am testing it to make improvements. The video I did was about the way in which you "reviewed" the sight not the way in which you can shoot. As a Masterclass I know you can shoot. When you are in the area, lets go to the range. I am sure we can learn from each other but we will start with safety considering you like to point the gun at your head. Call anytime and lets coordinate the range, I'll pay your range fee. 719-654-2506

Well of those the 1911 and the 38 are the only acceptable options. The rest seem to be striker fired only one of which has a proper safety and that safety is too small for confident deployment. My next acquisition is probably going to be a Taurus TH40 but CZ-75, Beretta 92, Beretta 80X, Bersa Thunder Plus would all be a better fit for me than this lineup.
@TAC7198 күн бұрын
At least you know what you want. But to the contrary, most striker fired options have an internal safety where the trigger has to be pressed in order to defeat the safety. The Glock for example cannot fire until the trigger is pressed for two reasons. 1. The internal safety (not only the trigger safety but the firing pin safety in the slide) has to be defeated by pressing the trigger and 2. It’s a double action only. Of the line up you mentioned, I am only familiar with the 92 - an absolutely horrible option in my opinion. The external safety is cumbersome, the locking block will break way before any of the other options mentioned, and it’s heavy to conceal carry. Thanks for the response. Train hard and safe.
@mkshffr49368 күн бұрын
@TAC719 I am not talking about drop safety. These days that should be a baseline requirement. Using the trigger as a safety ala Glock is like carrying cocked and unlocked. The point of a safety is to prevent accidental contact with the trigger from causing a discharge. In a DA/SA pistol the DA pull is long enough to mitigate the lack of a manual safety and in the exposed hammer versions your thumb on the hammer during re-holster prevents the action from cocking. In all of the striker guns I have handled the the trigger pull is not adequate to prevent a shirt tail from discharging the gun but you don't get a sweet single action pull either. It is my assessment that the manufacturers found a cheaper way to manufacture the pistols and sold it to us as a wonderful advance in technology. If that is what someone wants it is cool with me. Variety is the spice of life and I don't mean to be unnecessarily contentious, but it is discouraging that proper DA pistols are becoming difficult to find in local gun shops.
@TAC7198 күн бұрын
You aren't being contentious in my book, I enjoy a good conversation about firearms. DA/SA pistols are more difficult to understand and shoot to the average person who wants to carry for self defense. DA only firearms may actually have such a long and hard pull that some can't even use it. An example here would be the elderly or disabled. Interesting enough all Glocks are DA only, but some believe they are SA and that is not true in the least. The drop safety you talk about is actually a firing pin safety and prevents the firing pin from striking the primer. The only way to defeat that is by pulling the trigger. Unlike the 1911 or 92, their manual safeties can be switched on and off accidentally without the user knowing. After carrying the 92 for many years in service before I started carrying the Glock 19 for many years as well in service, the Glock is a far superior firearm and just as safe if not more safe than that of a 92 or 1911. To advocated for striker fired pistols with more anecdotal evidence, I have never known anyone personally that has accidentally shot themselves with a Glock, but I do know someone who accidentally shot themselves with a 1911. Although there is that DEA guy that famously shot himself with a "Glock fōty" during a school class lol The name of the game for any firearm is to know your firearm, how it operates, and to keep your finger off of the trigger until ready to shoot.

@adamalford565013 күн бұрын
@ okay since we are on the same page, I have a question for you. I have a Romeo 1 on a Glock 23 without a milled slide so I have to use the dovetail setup. The Romeo 1 has a groove through the back of the sight. I believe it’s so you can cowitness through it but could I just use that groove as my rear sight? Especially for close in work I don’t think it would affect POA very much as long as the new sight is tall enough.
@TAC71913 күн бұрын
I’m not super familiar with the Romeo 1. However, if you train to use that for your rear sight and you are shooting well with it, get r done. By shooting well, I mean an inch square at four or 5 yards and also 6 inches at 25 yards. Typically speaking the average engagement range for self-defense scenarios are within a few feet so regardless of what rear sight you use you’ll probably be good to go as long as your grip and fundamentals are correct.

@TAC71918 күн бұрын
Dude, is your gun 10k? An SRO Is 400% more in price than AIM. Also, it’s still a Red Dot no matter how you slice it. Even if you choose a Red Dot over the AIM, the SRO most certainly shouldn’t be your first choice. There are Red Dots that meet the Red Dot goal for less than half the price. Riton, Vortex, SIG, etc. The AIM, in my opinion, is a great optic for self defense and possibly even competition. Time and more testing will tell. For self defense, you absolutely should not carry expensive items that you would use in a scenario that would possibly put you in jail and have your firearm confiscated. For your bear gun, I would suggest the AIM. You would likely not even see your sights in a close up encounter deep in the bushes of Alaska, Montana, Idaho, Canada, or elsewhere that holds Grizzlies or Brown Bear. Either way you choose, please train hard and well.

NEVER manually insert a round into the side of the chamber. That will cause incredible wear on your slide and possibly break or damage your extractor. But it depends on the weapon and how well (tight) it is and how well it is tuned and maintained. Better safe than sorry and ALWAYS load from the mag. So the FORMER option is more desireable, and SAFER. Bottom line is...just because you CAN do something (side load a round) doesn't mean you SHOULD do it that way. It's the lazy man's way. If you damage your gun doing it manually from the side....would it have been worth it? Answer....NOPE! It's a dumb option. VERY RISKY and guaranteed to cause excess wear and possibly damahe something. Why take unnecessary risks? Btw...if you need that extra round to take down a perp, you have much BIGGER problems thsn loading. Get me? 🙄😉🫡🤪 P.S. if you are going to load the gun to the max to go out carrying....take the extra few seconds to load the extra round via the MAGAZINE! You have time so why take a short cut and cause extra wear etc.
