Hmmm...maybe fill the hole with bondo, sand off as much of the rust as possible and paint the whole area with Rustoleum spray paint. Make sure to extend the paint beyond the sanded area. It may take a couple of coats, but one can should do it.

8 dollar movie SCORE. it's like $15.00 in Cali. They are making the lead acid batteries cheaper and the don't hold up to their warranty like they used to. Glad it was fixed and you did'nt have to pay. I have been through 3 batteries on my 4Runner since 2013.

Hi Raymond. My comment here will not be concise, but I trust cogent, & I hope some of it will prove useful.Your vehicle is home. All ur possessions are within. Finding a trustworthy Car Dealership or Mechanic can be problematic as u know, particulary with out of state plates or at random on a roadtrip & them offering an accurate vehicular diagnosis & cost estimate is riskier prob than some Slot Machines.😁 In short, u can't afford to get ripped off as the Nissan Xterra is ur home & would require great expense, in hotel fees, worry about theft of valuables ,etc.You are a tech savvy guy. I recommend if u don't have one, an OBD2 Scanner.It's an On- Board Diagnostic Scanner available for all vehicles after 1996. It plugs into ur OBD2 port usually under ur dash. It allows u to see all trouble codes, clear a flashing Engine Light, perform real-time diagnostics on some models & more,etc. I recommend the BLUE DRIVER approx $100 from Amazon . There are other cheaper good ones. Check out YTer & Master Mechanic Scotty Kilmer,with over 5 million subs,for vids on OBD2 Scanners in various price brackets & diagnostic advice on anything vehicular. $100 is worth it imo,ur Nissan situation is Mission Critical if she goes belly up,imo. The cops were very professional I was glad to see.It's a dangerous job as u know.Unless u have an inexpensive 4way N-S-E-W camera system installed using cheap $15 or less back up cams for outside security monitoring and situational awareness(good idea methinks),the Cops almost certainly ran ur tags first from a distance. If u have a YT sticker that says "Paper Bag Nomad"-(after all a guy covering his face will naturally & logically draw suspicion for "wanted" even by concerned civilians)- the Police might have even checked ur channel & content fast if it was a slow day/nite.U were on Bodycam at their " Wellfare" check. U answered clearly, your eyes appeared normal, did not smell of alcohol,nor were any odors of drugs emanating from the vehicle or indicators of drug use or visible weapons.You were compliant, hands visible. For some strange reason car batteries don't seem to be lasting as long as they used to. Even though they woke you up, it was good of those cops to check on your wellfare. Tip: keep a small notebook to record oil changes, repairs, parts, etc. for your tiny home on wheels. That way you can keep track of when/where maintenace is done. Some shops will try to upsell you on things (like radiator flushes), and you can show them it's already been done.
