Hi, I have passed my aat level 3 and have my aatbq certificate . I’m really struggling with the thought of stepping out and becoming a self employed bookkeeper, to be honest I’m afraid but I know I have to do it and I’ve been dragging my heels really since about September. I really don’t know how to advertise my services and although I passed with merit I lack practical experience. Please help me if you can to know my first steps. Kindest regards Kevin:)

I have wanted to start my own practice in my local area, for many reasons. I have level 2 Accounting AAT and am thinking of doing Level 3 bookkeeping course with AAT to start my own practice, i am the only person who earns in my family (family of 6, 4 children) so i have to start it as a side hustle to my full time job as a finance assistant in industry. But i do have bad credit from before i got into finance so is this even possible?

Your advice also applies to salaried roles. Trust your gut instincts! If something doesn't sound right (or coshure!), politely close the interview, along the lines of "I don't think I'm suited to this role (or company culture)"; thank the interviewer for their time and leave. They will appreciate the honesty.

Love the idea of this...especially at £10/month but I've just gone onto your website to sign up and its showing as £30 a month now? A jump from £10 to £30 a month in the space of a year seems a bit steep, what more do you get now compared to 12 months ago to justify the £20 extra? Thanks!
