This has to be the ugliest aircraft nose I have ever seen. It completely ruins the delicate lines of the original design.

You guys aren’t killing deals. You’re making sure that the aircraft that’s changing hands is not gonna fall out of the sky and kill someone. Sometimes owners aren’t aware either of small defects that can lead to issues down the road, it’s for the safety of both parties. That’s how I look at it. Good job 👍

@wilfredosoto27222 ай бұрын
I was a cadet in the Civil Air Patrol from 1975-80, and we had 2 or 3 L-19’s in the Puerto Rico Wing. I was supposed to fly in one but the plane ended up having an issue and I couldn’t fly that day. About a month later I was told that I could either try and fly in one of the L-19’s or join a bunch of cadets being taken down the airfield to a Puerto Rico Army National Guard Huey. I, of course, opted for the Huey because my Dad had been a 1SG in an Army MASH unit and I always wanted to know what it felt like to fly in one like he did. It was a blast. The pilot flew Nap of the earth along a canal and swampy area for about 30 minutes. He made some awesome turns. I enlisted in the Army a few years later and flew in almost every Army helicopter in the inventory, but I’ve always wanted to know what it was like to fly in an L-19. I’m a mission observer in the CAP, and have flown in 150’s, 172’s, 182’s and GippsAero GA8 Airvan 8, and others, but I guess I’ll never know what it’s like to fly in the Bird Dog.

@MikeM2752 ай бұрын
@@jonbutzfiscina1307 No, it was similar to the Cessna 170 which is a taildrager. The 182 is a tri pacer, basically a souped up 172.

Yes, I know it is tri gear. But it has a bigger engine, like the L-19.

I had quite a few flights in a Cessna 170 B with my father in the 1970's.I have seen the L 19 perform at airshows.It seemed to have a more powerful engine than the 170.Is this correct?

Captain Lawrence Chambers was the first African American to command a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier and the first African-American graduate of the Naval Academy to reach flag rank. He retired as a rear admiral and is currently 95 years old.

Watching V-1 yellowshirts wear the same radio I wore at the start of my career was just amazing. Unfortunately, the question of landing civilian or Air Force aircraft aboard an aircraft carrier persists to this day. It would never happen now. It would be a direct violation of NATOPS.
@Sagart9992 ай бұрын
And some days you've got to just do what you've got to do. As any number of Navy flag officers have said, "It's always easier to get forgiveness afterwards than permission before." We could talk about the time I directly contradicted my CO's helm orders, but that's for another day.
@michaelmappin44252 ай бұрын
@Sagart999 You're 💯 right. However, the conditions that allow you to get away with those sorts of things have to exist. Frequent Wind was one of those conditions. If it weren't for that, he could have never even found the Midway. The Air Force could find the ship, but there's no way they'd need to.
@Sagart9992 ай бұрын
@ Oh, absolutely. You get away with breaking the regs outright under very specific, mostly unstated, conditions. In my case, on any other day in the three years I was assigned to that ship if I had done what I did, I would have been court martialed. But, somehow, saving the ship from a guaranteed collision and saving the CO’s career made everything all right.
@michaelmappin44252 ай бұрын
@Sagart999 Yes, saving the ship and the CO is going to get a pass. I got to drive the Lincoln once. I thought it was one of the coolest things in my career. I felt like I was doing it right, but the skipper called me over to look at my wavy wake. 🤪
@Sagart9992 ай бұрын
@ CVN 72. Very nice. Fortunately, I had pretty well trained helmsmen in Niagara Falls (AFS 3) - especially important when servicing another ship alongside in an UNREP and our heading changes are kept as close to zero as possible. The day of the countermanding event (not an UNREP), yes, I reacted quickly to a really bad situation, but it was the Boatswain’s Mate of the Watch that got our rudder shifted as fast as it was. When he heard my (somewhat alarmed) command, the BooW snaked his arm under the helmsman’s and made sure my order of “Hard right rudder” was executed without delay. Good man.

### **1. Rise from the Ashes** "Yo, let me break it down for you real quick. Life’s got a funny way of knockin’ you down, right? Like you’re out here thinkin’ you’re on top, then BAM-out of nowhere, you’re flat on your back, staring up at the ceiling, wonderin’ how you got here. But let me tell you somethin’-it ain’t about the fall, it’s about how you rise. Every setback? That’s the fire you need to rise from the ashes. Think of yourself as a phoenix, homie. You don’t just bounce back-you come back *blazing.* The world might try to bury you under doubt and failure, but remember this: seeds grow best in dirt. The harder they push you down, the deeper your roots go. You ain’t just surviving; you’re building. So when the smoke clears, when the dust settles, and they’re lookin’ for the one who made it through the storm? They’ll see you, standing tall, wings out, flames lit. Ain’t no stopping a soul determined to fly. *You’re the comeback they never saw coming.*" --- ### **2. The Hustler's Anthem** "Listen up, player. The grind don’t stop, and neither should you. Some folks out here waiting for life to hand ‘em a golden platter, but not you. You know the truth-success ain’t served, it’s hunted. You gotta get out there and snatch it like it owes you rent. Early mornings, late nights, missed parties-yeah, it gets lonely. But while they sleep, you work. While they complain, you adapt. The hustle isn’t just what you do; it’s who you are. You’re out here building something bigger than yourself, brick by brick, sweat by sweat. So when they ask, 'Why you workin’ so hard?' you just smile. 'Cause they don’t see the vision. They don’t see the empire you’re constructing. But one day, when they’re asking how you made it, you’ll tell them: *While y’all waited for life to happen, I made it happen.*" --- ### **3. Champion’s Mindset** "Alright, let’s get real. Everyone loves the victory lap, but nobody talks about the grind before the glory. Those early mornings when you question everything, the times you feel like the underdog in your own story-yeah, that’s where champions are born. The world ain’t gonna hand you nothing, but that’s alright. You weren’t built for handouts-you were built for breakthroughs. Every failure? That’s a lesson. Every rejection? That’s fuel. You don’t just overcome obstacles; you obliterate them, turnin’ roadblocks into stepping stones. When the world sees struggle, you see opportunity. When they see limits, you see the next challenge. You ain’t just chasing greatness; you’re defining it. So keep pushing, keep climbing, and remember: *A true champion isn’t the one who wins easily-it’s the one who fights like they’ve already won.*"
