AI has been my co-founder and digital assistant. AI landed in the public's mixed embrace at the same time that I registered my LLC and took the leap into the arms of fate. Summer Traveler is an example of my process, which I apply to all creations, including cooking, poetry, painting, and parenting. The process involves collecting (images, sounds, words, flavors), assembling, curating, modifying, and layering until I find the shimmer of the feeling I want to convey. For Summer Traveler, the core elements include: A dance choreographed, performed, and recorded in a Brooklyn hotel while the sunset cast my shadow onto the wall of the room from the large windows. My shadow became the seed in an AI-generated version of the dance that I layered onto my original video. Product images with models from my line of artist attire re-rendered through AI. I created video art from winter walks in the woods, where frost caught the morning sunlight and sparkled like prisms. I then rendered that video using a kaleidoscope process. Audio created in the air between California and the East Coast (see description above). Re-rendered footage of my eye passed through several AI renderings and layered them on one another. Time. All processes, no matter the tools involved, require a component of both skill and time. Opinion. Art is subjective; my eye has an opinion about what it likes, just like yours. Summer Traveler is about movement and growth. Fixity, like stagnation, equals energetic death. If our consciousness is evolving, our energy is evolving, so we are alive.
