Dracula was my hero starting as a pre-teen… I used to cry my eyes out when the old Dracula movies he of course was always killed… my mother was horrified, I kept saying: but it’s not his fault!!! I so wanted to be a vampire… actually I used to buy the comic books Vampirella - beautifully illustrated hard cover. She was a good vampire, fought crime with a human side kick… sort of like Dexter if you will.

I started watching this because of Troy Iwata from Dash & Lilly. He has something that intrigues me. And this short did too. Each moment dragging me along to the next. So much could be said about the way they communicated or didn't and the fear of just taking a chance with each other without mapping out the evening. Personally when someone asked me, in the past, what I like to do in bed I cringe. As if my response would always be the same. Beautiful short. Full of poignancy. Thank you.

The costume and production design for the movie certainly were remarkable. Nothing else like it. But then Francis burned every bridge he had ever built years later and decided to make Megalopolis.

So overblown. The red armor makes Vlad look like a Red Lobster logo. His white wig looks like a baboon's butt. Lucy's death dress and that ridiculous ruff is three centuries too late and makes her head look like it's on a large serving plate. (Was that the intention?) Costumes should be so in tune with ambiance, character and stetting, that they are seen, yet not seen. Here, they are the scene. Horrific.

This was the first film I ever walked out on. It was terrible, and not in a fun “so bad it’s good” kind of way.

Eiko was a true visionary- so many costumes in other productions/musici video/fashion shows have been influenced by her designs, especially the striated muscle armor.

I'm in the minority because despite all the promise I hated this movie so much. What a huge disappointment.

Actors are closer to the Kraft services than they are to artists working at the conceptual level of the production and costume Designers, who are creating a new visual language with each undertaking.

It is incredible how i am still frightened while just watching rehearsals. Seeing Sadie Frost crawl in that burial dress and slink around in that orange nightgown is chilling. It takes me right back to being eight years old in 1993, when i really SHOULD NOT have been watching it.. . but even then, i recognized Francis Coppola's Dracula as horror masterpiece. Maybe not in those exact words, but i knew that i was watching something special. It terrified and excited me at the same time. Seeing it as an adult is even more riveting because i realize that it's more than just a horror film. It's romantic, poetic, tragic, ominous and inspirational.

Out of all the Dracula movies I have watched, I'd like to say that nobody made it like Bram Stoker wrote it, however, the background score, Gary Oldman as Dracula, the grandeur of the set, all made this version watchable! Gary Olman for me is Bram Stoker's Dracula only as the character, not the actual book written by Stoker. He was amazing as Vlad Draculia!

The only thing wrong with this movie is Reeves as Harker, really, really bad role for him.

Enjoyed how Coppola took Anthony Hopkins and made him a much more heroic character, opposed to his portrayal as Hannibal Lector a few years before.

The armor always made me think of twizzlers. The costumes distracted from the acting, I think it’s part of why the performances ended up being over the top. This could be a good thing, but in this case it just didn’t quite work.
@Charlene-j1g16 күн бұрын
Coppola nailed it with his idea because if something is visually stunning, so interesting and different to look at it takes a while to take it all in, and just so fantastic, even if people aren't artists they still appreciate it and it causes them to say wow. It got into my brain and it's gonna stay there as a little nugget of something wonderful and satisfying. Thumbs up to that Japanese artist!❤
