So they compare "window installers" with a Medical Doctor? Are you guys kidding...a Doctor goes to the University for many years and spends a lot of money in Education.... The truth is prices are blown out of proportion and so is the labor they wish to charge

Please explain to me what was done to protect the sidewall? i know the flashing is embedded under the peel and stick but if your not going to step flash you have to apply cement between every shingle not just set shingles in cement. this roof will leak. you need people that know what they are doing

No wood nailer? Metal under the base? No trowel? No target sheet over lead pipe collar?
@russelleaves5435

yeah i didnt understand priming and putting mastic on the drip edge only to put the base sheet on top. i would think base, drip edge, primer, mastic and then cap sheet on top of that.
@russelleaves5435
@russelleaves5435 2 ай бұрын
of course if the cap sheet shrinks from the edge it wont leak under the drip edge the way they did it.

You guys don't chalk a line down your rake? Can't get a straighter line than that. I also run a rake shingle, runs vertical and gives a nice uniform look from underneath. Hey i ain't knocking what you're doing, everyone does this stuff a little different, but if i don't run that rake single shingle, i just cut each shingle a little long, then chalk a line from the top to the bottom, and use my hook knife to cut the top of the shingles, then I'll take a scrap piece of shingle and run it down my rake, that just sort of sands that outside edge of the rake edge and gives a nice clean look. Again, I'm not knocking you guys at all, I've been roofing for 34 years, i don't do much shingle work these days, i mainly stick to metal work, box gutters, fold lock, standing seam, that kinda thing. I do get to hand fabricate decorative corbels for one customer at the historical society, i make custom pieces to match what's left of existing decorative corbels, sometimes they're made of wood, sometimes i get to fabricate them outta galvanized sheet metal, of course i solder all my seams, Stay Clean Flux for galvy, Ruby fluid for copper. You fellas can have that ripping and tearing tho haha, i had my fill of that stuff over the years. I am doing a nail over for a buddy right now tho, it's maybe 28 square, I'm hand banging the shingles on, inch and a half roofing nails, buddy asked me to do it that way and he's paying me really well so no biggie, after this I've got a huge Yankee box gutter job coming up, man you should see this thing, one whole side will have to be completely rebuilt, from new rafter tails, fall board, cap, all new metal etc.. probably take me at least 2 weeks, it's 185 foot of box gutter and like i said, one side is shot but most of it the wood is in pretty good shape. It was a whopping 28 degrees here today so i played hooky 😂 Y'all Florida roofers probably don't know anything about that sort of stuff huh?

Question. Hoe did you know to make the vent opening 20ft by 3 inches? Thats 720 square inches of net free area. In order for your ventilation to work correctly you have to have more soffit vebting than ridge vent net free area. So that means your soffit vents net free area would have to exceed 720 sq inches. Im pretty sure i heard one of the suits says something about 500 and something.... If you have more ridge than soffit, the air flow can reverse. Also look into ridge vent with baffles. The Bernoulli effect....

I called you're company after seeing this video cause I thought the Iso Board would be a good additional to the flat roof portion of my home but was told you guys are no longer doing the Iso Boards anymore? Can you guys provide any information as to why you are no longer using these and are there any alternatives to creating some sort of slope on a flat roof?

LOL 50 years . I used GAF NS Pewter on my roof I installed myself last year. However I do not trust their other products. I used tyvek 200 double overlap on a 3/12 new deck pitch over my back addition and a good overlap on the main house at 6/12. That is my main protection. Shingles are gonna get thin, cracked, and ripped at some point. I found its whats underneath most shingles that really count. That being said the GAF shingles are as good as any other out there for the money.

For drip edge installation need a “6” strip of plywood 1/2, and the smooth peel and stick first, low side of the valley has to be attach with screws and bull in the need, white peel and stick has to be relaxing por 30 minutes minimum and the perimeter of tin caps are wrong to idk how pass inspection

The Golden Pledge Warranty must be installed by a certified GAF Golden Pledge contractor. You can not choose your own contractor. The certified contractor did a terrible job all the way around and now my roof is buckled and leaks within the first 10 years of a 50 year Golden Pledge warranty. LISTEN TO THE VIDEO!! Workmanship is NOT COVERED!! I've tried to have GAF honor their BEST warranty to no avail. Don't bother trying to have it certified by GAF. They do not send out a representative for final inspection. I had to beg them for the actual certification paperwork only to be declined because they do NOT warranty workmanship!! Such B.S. Here is the last response from GAF after almost two years of trying to get them to honor their warranty. "My apologies for the delayed reply. From the GAF Field Inspector it was advised the chimney is missing a cricket behind the chimney to divert water to either side of the chimney. It was noted that the interior roof decking is buckling. The decking substrate is not covered under the Golden Pledge warranty and unfortunately will be unable to be repaired under warranty upon the installation of the chimney cricket. Dannucci Roofing was requested to provide an estimate to have a cricket installed behind the chimney but they have advised they are unable to assist as they are currently booked out for a minimum of 8 weeks. I've spoken with Strober Roofing in Frenchtown this morning in regards to a repair estimate for the needed cricket. Strober Roofing may need to measure the area behind the chimney and may be contacting you. Strober Roofing may be contacted at 908-776-7233. Paige Barnhill paige.barnhill@@t
