I hope you are aware that several people have died this month using the E4 due to the heat. I think the authorities have also closed and are preventing people using the E4. Please think of your safety and do what is sensible.

tidy up gpx file in some map editor. Re-set sampIe time to regular spacing for smooth flow, I use excel for this. Up load file to goole earth and record a flythrough. Save as a movie.

So very thankful for this. Technical and accurate. I can't tell you how frustrating it is to watch travel video after travel video of people just talking to the camera, eating and giving very little useful info. You rock, Sam.

Looking on Google maps I couldn't identify where Tait is saying to turn off the road but he doesn't seem to be describing exactly the same route as you. There seem to be quite a few tracks and footpaths in the area so I think there are a few alternative ways to get to Anidri.

Bob's walk takes you up the road and only deviates off about 1.25km before reaching Anidri School House. Look for a sharp LH bend taking you north followed shortly by a sharp RH bend resuming the easterly direction. At the first LH bend leave the road heading straight on through the olive groves. Look for gates or gaps in the fences and that's the route. The red dots are very faded now. My route starts 2.3km before 'Bob's turn off' at Olive tree cottages. Look up Olive tree cottages on google maps. The route is marked in orange paint for the annual running race. The route starts a little up the road to the cottages, there’s a wire gate on the RH side of the bank. The best maps are Open Street Map used with many apps. I have put all paths for my walks on that mapping system. An easy app to use is ‘Mapsme’. Of course the maps and walk descriptions are also in my book on Amazon, there’s a link in the video description above. The book provides an easy deviation from the ‘orange’ route which avoids the ascents up to the high point and the church should you wish to have less climbing .

@@samharris8565 Thanks for this information. I have often gone past the turning to the Olive Tree Cottages. There are a lot of books under the name Sam Harris on amazon and I couldn't find yours. What is it called?

@@AlanRPaine There's a link to the book in the video description above and the Author is Sam Jeffrey beacause 'the Sam Harris' was already an established famous author that name could not be used on Amazon.

@@samharris8565 I found the start of the walk and the paint marks just after turning into the Olive Tree Cottages road but didn't get the opportunity to actually try the whole walk. Maybe next time.

This looks interesting. I have often walked down the Anidri gorge from the schoolhouse restaurant. The walk between Paleochora and Anidri along the road is very tedious. Is the route you describe the same as that in Bob and Lynne Tait's book 'Ten Walks around Paleohora?' We tried to follow it once but got lost and had to take the road instead. Tait says 'At a distinctive left bend in the road take a footpath directly in front through olive groves.' The path is waymarked with red paint according to them. The hardest part of any walk is finding the start. I will look for it again when I am in Paleochora in June. I think the water splash has become higher since I first went down the gorge and climbing up or down on the rope has become a lot harder but fortunately someone has built a bypass round it. Hosepipes with water spraying out is good for cooling down but wasps looking for a drink can congregate in these places, so take care.
