Same car, same problem. Left rear door totally locked. I can't open it at all. The fuses and electrical continuity on the cables seems to be ok...

Watching this because I need to look at the tailgate washer line/hose/thingamabob because the washer has stopped working. But trying to loosen the inside panel to get to the stuff inside I found it mounted pretty solidly to the tailgate with 6 plastic doodads and I don't wanna break anything, so found this very physical walkthrough/tutorial, which is fantabulous. I see that not putting the seats down, but climbing over the seatbacks head down and yanking the inner panel of with blunt force, subsequently tossing the panel out the and slamming to the floor is the best way to remove it. Thank you very flexible and manly man! Only caveat is whether the panel will go back in after all the yanking and throwing to the floor, we'll see. 😂

How do you get the latch off? OP, you glide over the most important part of your video. There is no hole there. How do I actuate the hook so that it unlatches from the hook?
@JamesVickers Жыл бұрын
Hi. Is that the part where the latch is still attached to the car, but the boot is open? If so, I had to cut the rubber shroud to expose a small hole where I could fit a small screw driver. The details escape me now as this was a few years ago.
@johndarecca4225 Жыл бұрын
You know, that is somewhat like my solution. You would think that Volvo planned for such a foreseeable situation by having an access port or, god forbid, a button to perform a manual release. I basically had to destroy the top of the mechanism with a screwdriver and some four-letter words, because the screw at the top was seized. Removing the plastic cap exposed the inner workings of the lock, and then it was quite easy to unlock the external latch. To recap, yes, you are destroying the old mechanism, and this is okay. I hope that this helps a few of the remaining V50 owners. @@JamesVickers

It was a lovely tribute to your mum and dad James I never knew what happened with your mum. I'm heading up to Nottingham soon for Christmas it was there a few years ago I saw your parents at the market Christmas fair I went past em on the tram I got off and ran up to catch them as I not seen Tony for ages. We spent a good 20 minutes or so chatting was lovely then I bumned into them upstairs again at the corner house looking at the view from the top I didn't know then that would be the last time I saw Tony he was very special and great guy to work with and friend still miss him to this day. He was very proud of you talked about you all the time you take care All my best Shane
@JamesVickers2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Shane. It has been a devastating few years for us all. Making the video was my way of processing all of it. I find the process cathartic. Funny isn't it. We never know when it will be the last time we see, speak, text someone. Before my dad died, he sent me a message, I saw it late in the evening and thought I'd reply the following day. I then never had the chance. Hope all is well with you

@@JamesVickers I'm all good you understood my message I did not know how to convey it to you I'm so happy I did what I did that day and spent that time with your parents. I only really knew your dad and only knew Irene from Tony but when we met she was more talkative than your dad she told me how he had collapsed at work and you rushed over and it was an ear infection or something lol. Then she told me about there safari trip etc. I'm so happy to have known your dad he did a lot for me helping me find my inner calm as I was always a stress head lol I hope one day I meet you in person I'll share my stories of your dad and the smelly texfin work we did take care God bless you and your family James x

Saw the car shopping! I would recommend the Kluger, Jeep reliability doesn't look the best, and since the Kluger is very popular if anything was to go wrong servicing is cheap and parts are easy to come by.
@JamesVickers2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I really do like the Jeeps. We have been looking at the new ones..... but the hybrid kluger has our attention. We have been thinking the same as you said. Part reliability etc. Toyota wins every time.

Don't beat yourself up too hard my friend! We ALL tend to get bit unfocused and distracted from time to time. It happens. Well, first thing I thought to myself: Wheres part 1 at??? lol. Once you addressed that part in the 1st few seconds, you already know I had to get a quick refresher so I indeed hit the link lol. Anyhow, thats quite some story telling brotha. And the journey footage from "there to here" just reinforced the whole narrative. Losing that much money sounds like a nightmare scenario but I'm glad you guys managed to power through it. Loved how you took us along for the car ride to get some pizza, then the mulch for your garden, landing up right in your backyard showcasing your film know how. Just great stuff brotha!
@JamesVickers3 жыл бұрын
Hey mate. Part 1 was a while ago. Two years now I think. Always had the intention of going through some old footage of the move to Australia, but never found the time. Finally gotten around to it. The pizza and mulch was just a way of me still recording what we are doing with our house and life and this stage of our life. I still enjoy filming and editing, the more the better. Hopefully I can make part 3 soon. Not a two year gap like the last one.
