Lived in Jax 69 years. Traffic is unbearable. Too many people have moved here. Way too many new people with questionable documentation. Harsh climate. Hot, humid, bugs, bugs, bugs. It was a great place to grow up but it’s been going downhill ever since professional football arrived.

Hey Andrew I have a question regarding the fresh water situation you mentioned. Regarding it being a bad idea to be in the fresh water due to the gators I totally get it. However, when you mentioned the fresh water in Florida being extremely dirty why is that? Is it the pollution or why specifically is Florida fresh water so dirty ? Thanks for your work.

I was born in Jacksonville and live here. I've never seen an alligator outside of captivity. Never. Have not experienced mosquitoes in decades. My big gripe is the traffic. If i could, i would leave Jacksonville . I hate it. Over development is rampant. The older nice areas are now too crowded. There are no vegetable/fruit stands to get fresher produce. The prices of groceries are now insane. Ever since Covid, the grocery prices have continued to rise. It began as a shipping problem. But the corporations kept increasing prices. There are many more reasons i don't want to live here. There is tension in the air here. If you want a relaxed don't move here. Just don't.

On the cost of living yes is cheaper in jax however is not like you are moving your San Francisco salary with you…. Remote work is done with for the most part, so youll indeed pay less for everything but your new pay will be $20 and hr 😂 not everyone is a nurse or a doctor

I'm a Jacksonville native. I've seen (my dad ,not me) a five foot + gator in his backyard. There's just a small man-made lake in his yard. He is in Oakleaf/Jacksonville and how it managed to get there is still a mystery. I've seen in my neighborhood, rattlesnakes so big you mistaken it for a large branch in the road. Driving over it felt like it too. UGH! I have the eebie jeebies right now just talking about it! That being said, they come out of a very deep and moist ditch. This ditch just happens to be right behind my privacy fence in the backyard. No fence is going to stop a creepy *ss snake out. The end of our cultasac is the St. John's. I hate any reptile. They give me the creeps. There's a big difference between a regular cockroach and what we have here. Florida roaches (Palmetto) are much bigger and those bastards fly! You can see a grown man suddenly lose his masculine manhood when those things are around. Florida is saturated in lizards! You'll find dead ones in your house but unfortunately that's not uncommon. Those little bastards are sneaky and fast. Spanish moss is beautiful to those who live in the Midwest but here, it's Lyme disease! They are loaded with tics.

Did not know Florida had an embassy in D.C.! I’ve lived in Jacksonville for close to 46 years, and in Florida for close to 56 years. Thx for the interesting tidbit of info! 😊

I rent in the downtown area and have been here two years. I love it. I love the beautiful St. John’s river and the beautiful bridges. I love being able to walk or drive a short distance to really good restaurants and live theatre and concerts. I’m from Georgia, and the weather is not really any different. The Jacksonville Zoo is the best zoo I’ve ever been to. Beautiful and it has so many events, you want to get an annual pass. I love the museums. My favorite is the Cummer Art Museum. The downtown library is the best I’ve ever been to. Check out all the services they offer. The apartment rental rates are not so different from other cities. The traffic is nothing compared to Atlanta or Los Angeles. It’s fine, really. I feel very safe, walking around downtown, even walking from restaurants or concerts to home at night. The police here are great…unless you’re a threat. There are a lot of hospitals and wonderful doctors here. I’ve had so many great references. And, lastly, no. I don’t work for the Chamber of Commerce.

The water is very hard and full of minerals to the point where you can see white flex in a glass of water and don't want to drink it. You must have a water softener to protect your pipes and things like your water heater from getting clogged with minerals. If buying an older home make sure that it has had a whole house water softener or you can expect that your pipes are 50% clogged or worse and your water heater is probably in bad shape, washer, dishwasher, etc.

Jacksonville is not bad. Wages are low because it is the south, workers rights are not the best, there is a problem with home owners insurance in Florida because they don't want to insure you unless you have a new home. They don't like old pipes and they want your roof to be less than 15 years old. The south has a problem with insecticide resistant pests like fleas if you have pets, it is very hot and humid in summer, worse than south Florida in fact, drivers are terrible so you always have to be on guard that someone is going to pull out in front of you, but housing prices are good, you do get the effects of hurricanes passing by which happens a lot as they seem to like to go up through the state, but Jacksonville doesn't normally get a direct hit, Jacksonville is a large city and does have the beach area but it is not really developed as Jacksonville is further north and has a winter season so most snow birds go further south in winter, I could go on.

He says do not move to Jacksonville in his title but he's making it a positive review and telling us reasons why he loves living there I don't understand is this clickbait is this fear-mongering I don't know

I’ve lived here for 3 years, if it’s home it’s home, if not then you may not like it as much. It is very flat here, and if not for the friend that brought me here I’d be long gone. I’m from CA and the cost of living is no better than CA. Jax is pretty comparable cost of living in ghetto areas and ridiculous in nice areas. Plus side is weather, humidity (I have dry skin), no state tax, gas around $3.

Do not even visit Jacksonville! Sheriff has no control of crime with all the Black Gangs! Not a Racist, just facts about the cesspool theses Black Gangs have turned Jacksonville into!

I'm looking to sale already.
