Seems like the floor is waxed and highly polished, and the air must be quite dry

Certainly, not the way we were taught back in ‘72. Especially, the first quarter. More breath control and dynamic tension.👎

In my Dojo I was taught to introduce a couple stomp kicks within the Kata, from there on follow thru with the back fist or elbow strike. Interesting.

Love this guy. Isshinryu is not the same anymore. Washed down. I could see Master A ( real master ) back in his day take on MMA or Dog Brothers. He has my respect.

I received my Sho Dan from Sensei Richardson in 1985. He told so many amazing stories of you and after watching you, he did not embellish. Just wow, thank you for your service and what you have done for Isshinryu Karate Do.

Hello there Sensei! Hope you're having a great day! I have a question related to Sanchin for you. It is common knowledge that Miyagi sensei created Tensho kata to complement Sanchin kata, as its softer counterpart. What is your take on why Tensho was not included in the Isshinryu system? I've searched online and nothing ever pops up. Did Tatsuo Sensei not learn Tensho? and if he did, did he choose to not include it on purpose? My limited knowledge tells me Tensho is a significant form so I'm hoping you can shed some insight on this topic. Oh, and many thanks for your continuous great content! Your friend Carlos.

There are some interesting lessons I have observed from this kata. You never go backwards or retreat! You are not standing still by any means, you shift your body position so that the attacker does not control your position. I have seen Sensei Advincula use his legs in a sweeping motion to avoid leg attacks, but others use them to attack the opponents legs. I'm sure he would do that "when the opportunity presents itself". Every time I view this video I gain a bit more knowledge! Thank you for sharing this information.
