I hate surprises, but I can appreciate a happy accident. It's one of the best psych/Indian blends I've heard. Obviously Indian music has been paired with psychedelic for decades, but this is a great blend of the two for newer music. It's done so well.

Both works got 9 songs ( although PC&L "Blue monday" was released as a single solo) -- another connection could be that in Basquiat paint we see a cemetery, and in Latour painting we got a bunch of flowers... flowers for a grave, maybe? Anyway I can't believe how new order influenced the strokes. Great connection!

That definitely was a classic. Blue Monday has been a popular song for groups to cover. I still don’t have that album back in my collection. When I had a paper route I could only afford 45s. Once I started working at the grocery store I made the big bucks to buy an album.

When you said it was more about both artists i had a little look and what I came up with is that both Phair and Lennon didn't grow up with their real parents. Lennon famously spent most of his childhood with his aunt, Liz Phair was adopted.

Weird, I meant to guess on the Crowded House video... And then I forgot to watch this until today... And Bryce should be about to put a new one up... But this doesn't actually share the simple connection that the last three did, so I guess I was wrong anyway. The last three all featured "clip art"/ "papercut" art in the covers, digitally done or real, but same sort of style.

I did some listening today-it seems this mini-album is not on streaming, but its tracks are split (sorta) between the bonus tracks on expanded reissues of The Crossing and Steeltown. But the long version of “Chance” isn’t on either, just the original album version. And “All Fall Together” is listed as the “Giant Remix,” which I don’t know if that means it’s the same or different from the version on Wonderland.

They had a song called “Throw Your Arms Around Me” that Neil Finn of Crowded House admired enough that he covered it regularly. They never did an official version, but I have a couple of different recordings of Neil singing it. (And I know H&C’s Mark Seymour is the brother of CH’s Nick Seymour, but I don’t want to do that as a connection-a little too obvious, and also not quite the kind of connections we do. I like to say something that is the same about both releases or artists, which I couldn’t easily do with that.)

It was a really fun time. But I moved back to home from San Diego and we met up a couple of times, then one day his wife called and asked if Deuce had contacted me recently. Turns out he left his wife with another woman and went out on the road.

I love that Howard Jones album but was never a huge fan of the Dexy album. I think it was because the video they are dancing around in bib overalls which I thought was stupid. Maybe Jones also was wearing bibs?

If I set aside my mind’s eye view of Dexy’s in the overalls, I find the album much more enjoyable. So I get that. Yeah, the Howard Jones album is solid. Even the deeper tracks are good. It’s my favorite album from him. Even though I like the re-do of “No One Is To Blame”way more than the version on Dream Into Action.
