Personally, from what I can understand, North Korean music up until the 1980s was very reminiscent of the 1950s and didn't change or evolve much. That was until Kim Jong Il (father of Kim Jong Un) decided during the 1980s that North Korean music needed a revamp and had the music go from a traditional 1950s-esque sound to a more up to date, 1980s synth-pop sound instead. Something I find interesting is that North Korean music, ever since it had it's little revamp 40 years ago, hasn't evolved alongside music around the world since then. That may be the reason why, despite the Moranbong Band debuting in 2012, their music sounds like it's from the 1980s.

Taemin does indeed sing live, but there is a secret to it shared by Taemin himself: since he is most of the times dancing and dancing hard, he will split the song to parts that he does sing live like verses in IDEA for example and then will synch lip partially the chorus to rest like that part MA-MA-MA-MY-IDEA, YOU-ARE-YOU-ARE- MY-IDEA; this is the formula he follows in almost every song with heavy choreo like that to make sure that he does sing live like 80% of the song at least but also can rest and pull out whole 2 hour concert on same high energy. Still the fact that what he does sing has no vocal shake and his live voice is rock steady is another superpower of Taemin ❤

Hi, little late here. I don't know if you watched the making of video but for some shots (like in 10.20 ) they used a camera that is strapped to their body, what I think looks really unique. Love your reactions and the explanation how they do it btw

The story line for Skydive. Daehyun (who has a girlfriend) thought Himchan (the first guy that shot the man at the very beginning of the video) killed his girlfriend, but at the end, he was the one that saved him from death (You can see Himchan throw Daehyun to the side so he didn’t get shot). Until he finally realized it was Jongup that planned all these. Jongup was sided with other bad men and was a secretive hit man.

Taemin has talked about the literature that inspired this concept: Erotism: Death and Sensuality by Georges Bataille and Demian by Hermann Hesse. Love that Taemin decided to do things his own way with his own colors. I don't see anyone else doing this concept, or even the way in which he does it. Just stunning! Great reaction KING-TPOP-ART

Even though there were several cuts, they actually did perform this live with the lights. Currently they are using red rubber bands instead of lights. Fun fact, speaking about theatre - several members are veteran musical actors.

💎 What can we say other than THE KING IS BACK!? I absolutely love how deep Taemin’s songs and MVs are…they aren’t just entertainment or for clicks/views, but he tells a story. He wants to make people THINK and question and reflect. This isn’t something one can watch and then move on. His concepts are intellectual and personal. 💎 Regarding the song itself, his haunting whispers with the beautiful runs on top give me chills…the rap section was unexpected, but fit perfectly and suited the song more than I’d have imagined. I loved how the song switched gears in unexpected ways…there are certain formulas that most kpop songs follow, but this moved in ways I’d never imagined it would and it’s perfect. 💎 As far as the choreography…holy freaking moly. I KNEW it would blow my mind…of course it would-it’s Taemin! With that said, I can’t help but wonder if this isn’t some of his best work to date. It’s provocative without being slutty. Not only that, but you can SEE him being jerked around without any hands on him at all. Around the tenth time watching the video, I happened to notice some of what the background dancers were doing (it’s hard to peel my eyes from Taemin!). There are some genius moves that add to the overall look of the stage…some possibly inspired by breakdancing and some quite acrobatic. I can’t wait to see how it plays out on stage! 💎 All I can really say besides the King has returned is, if loving Taemin is a crime, I’m “G-U-I-L-T-Y … Who's gonna punish me?” 💎

The premise is being trapped in like a school where they are being conditioned and controlled to harm outhers until Taemin becomes the alpha male and takes over and controls everyone. Taemin also said it was based on a book by a philosopher he'd read about. Can't remember the name of the person though. Choreography was done by bada and casper. Fun fact. You mentioned Taemins muscle physique he now has. It's because he was literally trained by Minho in the gym over the past few months. (Gasoline is key song you were thinking of)
@HangryKitsune Жыл бұрын
"alpha male" sounds a bit unsuitable for Taemin 😅 when he literally said that he emphasizes genderneutrality / androgynity for himself but also through the whole video (even for the dancers / other characters). But yes, he becomes a leader at the end. The director and Taemin himself were mentioning the god Abraxas (mix of good and evil) and the story "Demian" from Hermann Hesse. (I tried to write that 2 times in an other comment but for some reason they didn't get posted :/ probably because I mentioned a certain social media page)

@@HangryKitsune ah so that's where and who he got the idea from I did wonder. But it's an awesome album and song an MV.

I remember how Taemin describe this comeback as he's on the tightrope. What you say about something missin in this MV is that. He's trying to see how far he could go that would still accepted by the social norm. If the MV as sensual as the trailer, it would have problem with censorship. You know korean broadcasting stations are very strict about those thing. Same with why he removing his tattoo I think. He wouldn't be able to pull up that undershirt choreo on music show without have to cover it with bandages. The underline is, he still "testing the water". He plays trick on our mind. He want us to feel unsatisfied and thirsthing for some more just like what he say in Want. He's a mastermind.

I feel like there’s so much just below the surface. He did what he said he would and took it as far as he can go right now. He’s hinting at the forbidden. He’s expressing that he was hurt in either a physical or emotional way. I feel like there may even be a tie in with his military service?
@4Peace. Жыл бұрын
I love Taemin's deployment of contemporary dance in expressing this concept. He spoiled the mv a bit when he updated his Instagram bio to one of his favorite quotes from Demian by Hermann Hesse, which Taemin relates to in his art and life. (It's also featured in the Taemin the Artist documentary) The song is hauntingly beautiful and Taemin's portrayal of the tortured character caught and then breaking free is startling and mesmerizing in the best way possible. We can only wonder if this is another trilogy of Taemin's in the making. The dancers are indeed as brilliant as ever. I'm looking forward to Taemin's explanation of the concept and what comes next. Thank you for breaking down this mv 💜 and see you again soon!

I’m happy they didn’t go only for the storyline MV and included dancing sequences. Dance (especially contemporary influenced dance) has become a huge part of Taemin’s artistic identity, which I’m sure he wanted to showcase in the 2nd act of his career. This MV is in my opinion a continuation a conclusion of the whole background story given in a trailer - it can be viewed on its own, but if you know the trailer it ads context to this story. I personally always want to see Taemin’s breathtaking performative dancing, it ads so much artistry to everything he’s doing and people genuinely look forward to seeing the whole choreography and performance on Studio Choom.

Agree. I also hope to enhance the storytelling of the MV like the trailer. But it seems they didn't want to give up on the dance part either; after all the choreography was great. But it is really difficult to execute both parts perfectly in 3 minutes. No matter what, I'm happy enough to watch Taemin.

Regarding the MV trailer I am not sure why, but I feel like they rather promoted the album rather than the Guilty MV alone, even though it had parts of the MV. The fist part of the trailer had the song "Night Away" and the second darker part had the song "The Rizzness". In hindsight the visuals fit these songs. His promo pictures (and a different mood trailer) beforehand had a whole different vibe as well. I guess it's all small parts that turn into a whole picture of the album for each song.
