Finally! What a brilliant idea! I’ve been unable to find anything on KZbin that shows what goes on with the hand underneath the fabric. This was exactly what I needed before starting to hook. I needed to know if my arthritic hands could actually do it. I think they can now that I’ve seen this. Thank you so much.

Hi Haleigh, I know this question is off topic as to what you’re gonna teach, but I need help. I was asked to repair an old hooked rug. I feel the moths got to it. Do I put burlap on the back and hook that way? There’s holes all over. Help please.

Have you tried using recycled acrylic fabric as strips? I'm a newbie to hooking :)
@loopbyloopstudio4 ай бұрын
Sorry for the delay in my reply - you can use any fabric content but it's easiest to hook with soft, flexible fabrics like t shirt, chiffon, soft sweaters, yarns. Harder fabrics like quilting fabric, denim, hard ribbons are more challenging to hook with.

You only need it 'drum tight' when using a punch needle. Many times having it a bit more slack ensures that the height of your loops are sufficient to hold.
@loopbyloopstudio4 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! I find when teaching beginners, drum tight works best and you can loosen the tension up after you have the stitch down pat.

On those convex areas if u snip the whole curve and apply glue to each snip there will be a flatter mire even finish.I’m a sewer and necklines and armhole are done like that.

I've always wondered if moving a hoop to do a larger piece was really practical to do. It seems like it was no problem.
@loopbyloopstudio Жыл бұрын
No problem at all! The pattern is a little less tight once you have to move it to squish areas you’ve hooked but it’s fine!

Thank you for this video. Love your rugs. It answered the question about which direction to cut wool for hooking. I cut all my wood by hand as I do not have a cutter. However, it’s not hard to cut and I like the finished product. Have you ever used wool yarns? I follow Deanne Fitzpatrick also and she seems to be using more wool yarns these past few years.

I’m surprised you cut against the warp. I thought warp threads were the strongest, so you would want to cut keeping them intact. The selvage edge is parallel with the warp, isn’t it?
